kogoro becomes way smarter when his emotions kick in. like with his old friends or family he always solves it then.

I've noticed that Kogorou has also gotten better about analyzing cases and solving them. Yeah, for the most part, he's still useless, but once in a while, he shines through by figuring out most to all of it. You know how Conan's original goal was to support Kogorou at first, but eventually turn him into a self-supporting famous detective who'd help him out with the Black Syndicate in the end? I really think at the end of the series, Kogorou will actually be a really good detective (of course, not at good as Shinichi or Heiji, though).
