And the Guardian was kick-ass for some reason.

I suppose you could say that the proxy is his alter ego, his shadow (Jungian psychology). And I get the hunch that the guardian was based off Odin, the Norse god. He was known for giving up one of his eyes in exchange for drink in Mirmir's well, which granted wisdom. I recall reading in a Norse story of a hero who meet with odin and commented on his blue eyes. If you pay attention, you notice that the guardian also has blue eyes and he tends to squint one of them.

they exchanged hearts long ago so they are one.. showing vincent his past and him realizing what he really is was education moment for him.. but real question is why did he forgot it..?
