Usually found on campus in the library reading a book with headphones on, or on the rooftop playing her violin (which she carries with her almost everywhere), Adrianna has imprinted the image of an aloof solitary girl who could not care less of those around her. Adrianna is actually very shy and is picky of those she wishes to talk to, among them the members of the music club, who are but a few who have seen an actual smile from her. Despite her talents in music, Adrianna has never performed formally in public. She has a great anxiety in playing in front of an audience and would much prefer playing in isolation in the music room or on the school's rooftop. Of course some have heard her play but the ones who have exclusively seen her play are her musical instructors, her parents and the members of the music club. No matter how much her parents, teachers or friends persuade her; no matter how many agents approach her, Adrianna refused blatantly. This being the only defiance she shows to her parents, most of the time she is very obedient and follows all of her mother's wishes.

The violin is not the only instrument she has mastered. She has also been known to play a few pieces on the piano and the acoustic guitar. Her love for music has made other people think that it is the only thing she is good at although she has been a straight A student most of the time.

The combination of her aloofness, intelligence and appearance have enraptured the eyes of the male populace of the school and has earned Adrianna a handful of courageous confessions all which she denied with a bored and indifferent look
"Dating is not an interest for me at the moment but I do appreciate your kindness."
This went on throughout her high school life thus eventually coining the term
"Ice Princess".

There was only one person capable of breaking her cold exterior -- Cirocco Soffiare; only son of one of the SOF Generals. She would unwillingly let Ciro see different sides and expressions that even her own mother never sees.

History:

Adrianna was born from a French father named Gustave Dubois and an American mother named Candice Thorne. Her father was a famous pianist in Europe,where she spent most of her childhood in. Her mother is a fashion designer for a brand called MICHELLIS, which has lines ranging from casual to formal wear for both men and women.

Candice met Gustave in her first shop in Paris, France. Gustave was then buying a suit for his performance. It was love at first sight. Two years later they were married and had an only daughter they named Adrianna. As expected Adrianna grew up to be a musical prodigy like her father. To Gustave's demise however, his daughter (at the age of four) picked up the violin instead of sitting in front of the piano. To satisfy her father, Adrianna started learning the piano at six. By age ten she could play difficult pieces on both instruments.

When she was thirteen years old, her mother arranged for her to have an audition at Juliard's. The night before the audition however her father met an accident on the way home from a concert. His death caused her great distraught. She continued with the audition thinking that her father would have been happy if she did. Fear and depression got to her. Midway throughout the performance she made a mistake in the tension of her play and caused the strings to snap. The shame caused her to have a stigma and since then every time she stepped on a stage she would shake and will be unable to play.

For a year, Adrianna became depressed and went hiatus on music. Candice, being concerned for the wellbeing of her daughter, sent Adrianna to a therapist who recommended she find a distraction, a different activity aside from music, to preoccupy her mind and vent her frustrations on. Adrianna randomly decides to take up Taekwondo. She focused on the martial arts so much that she became a third Dan black belter within a year. She got bored after and realized that a year was enough to be mourning pathetically. She picked up the violin and started playing once again.

When Adrianna turned 15, Candice decided to remarry. Candice married a realstate mogul named Andrew Lockheart, a widower with a son named, James. The wedlock resulted to Adrianna migrating to San Francisco and continuing her education there.

Her step brother was a year older than her and meeting him was like a lightning bolt to Adrianna. All her life, she was never infatuated with a boy. He was the most beautiful person she has ever seen. She was however too timid to try and talk to him. Adrianna also felt that he did not accept her as family with the way he acts towards her. In the three years they have been living together in one roof, the only interactions they've had were either greetings or "Hey Mom/Dad's calling you."

Her stepfather however, even though he was busy and hardly had any time to talk to her, was kind enough to renovate one of the extra rooms in the large house and turn it into a music room adjacent to her bedroom. He was also gracious enough to buy her a piano and an acoustic guitar which she learned to play in no time.

At present, Adrianna goes to the same school as her elder step brother. She has made a name for herself there as one of the most enigmatic students. She has had her share of experiences of being bullied because of the attitude she portrays. Nonetheless she did not particularly care for those. She did find it annoying though, that the reason that they targeted her was because she was living in the same house as her step brother. It was ridiculous because most of the time he treated her like she did not exist.

The library has been one of her favorite places to visit to escape the drama. There she'd read all the books and articles written about the tragedy of San Francisco from fifty years ago plus the history of the SOF. It was a subject she had been interested in from the side ever since she was a child. Her grandmother, who at that time was a Seer, told her stories of what happened. About the enemies to humanity, powerful spiritual beings that devoured human souls. At one point, Adrianna considered joining the SOF, but her grandmother discouraged her from doing so, insisting that she should have a normal life instead.

"Enjoy the peace that we have now. There is no need for you to involve yourself in something that will take away your happiness." those were the parting words Adrianna's grandmother told her before she passed...

On her 17th birthday, Candice and Andrew bestowed on their daughter a Stradivarius. The elusive violin was one of the few that survived the passing of time. It was the most wonderful thing Adrianna has ever received. It is the object she holds dear most and carries it to school almost everyday.

Three months before the 50th anniversary of the San Francisco tragedy, Adrianna's life became more colorful. The day she met Ciro was on the death anniversary of her father, Gustave. She was greatly depressed that day and opted not to talk to anyone and didn't even visit the music club that day. Adrianna skipped her last subject for that day and stayed on the rooftop. Every year ever since her father died, Adrianna will go to a high place and dedicate a song for Gustave. This year it will be Chopin Etiude in E major Tristesse. She inhaled deeply and with elegance, lifted her bow and played.



She was almost finished with the last note when the door leading to the school roof loudly bursts open, causing her to lose concentration and fail the ending. She was startled and turned to see the person who disturbed her. "Who are you? You are not a student from here." She said noting that he was not wearing a uniform. He stared at her with wide eyes for about 30 seconds before muttering a pathetic hello.

Adrianna sighed. She was quite pissed. She packed her violin in its case and answered the person with a cold indifferent voice. "How foolish of you to come barging in here and attracting needless attention from students." She walked gracefull pass him and disappeared into the campus and went home annoyed.

The next day, whilst practicing with a group of club members in the music room, the boy barges in again causing Adrianna to slip and make an unpleasant sound. Every person in the room turned to look at the foreigner. She heard murmurs of "Why is he so interested in the Ice princess?"
She glared at this person and hissed "Do you not give up?"

The boy blurts out the strangest reply and possibly the most annoying confession Adrianna has ever heard. "From the deepest reaches of my soul to the tips of my fingers, I am completely in love with you."

Dumbfounded. Completely dumbfounded and so were her co-club members. Eventually the shock turned to irritation and with her signature ice cold tone she answered back, this being a tad colder than what she normallly answers to boys who have confessed from before.

"You're an idiot, a child, an infant. You're not in love with anything, and if you think you are then you have no idea what that word means. Get out of my way."

She bolted for the door, her club members going out first. When suddenly, she was frozen from where she stood, by a chillingly beautiful melody. She turned back to see, for the first time actually (she never bothered to take note of his face), this handsome person with golden hair, his fingers dancing upon the keys with sheer pure emotion unlike any she has ever heard. He played with such beauty, she would admit that it was on par with her father's.

When he ended the song, Adrianna realized tears were running down her cheeks. She had never been so moved in her life. Hastily, she wiped her cheeks with her fingers and threw the man in front of her a vulnerable expression and a shivering voice. "W-who are you exactly?"

From then on, Adrianna let herself be acquainted with Ciro. She found him to be calm and quiet during normal occasions but he would be so random and unpredictable at times with his behavior. She found this to be sweet. Adrianna allowed herself to let loose her rather stuck-up nature and fell for Ciro. She wanted to know all about him and be with him always. No person has ever made her feel that way. Everyday he would pick her up from school and they'd go out on dates in the weekends. They would play music together for hours and or just laugh all day.

Learning about Ciro's father was a quite uncomfortable for Adrianna at first. But she found that it really did not matter. As long as she was with Ciro, she would be at her happiest.

Shikai Abilities:

The general ability of this zanpakutou is to manipulate water that is in the surrounding area and change its properties to be used for defense or offense. Ice Mermaid will be able to change water into ice or ice into water. Condense vapor but cannot create steam.

Raindrops - 雨滴 (Uteki)

The zanpakuto allows Adrianna to make it rain within a 3 mile radius and make the surrounding area a suitable battlefield for her. This ability however is not needed when Amaya is near a water source.

Whip - むち (Muchi)
Whip-like Chains of water that can cut through the hardest rock or even solid steel.

Maruyane no Umi (Water Dome)
Creates a large ball of water that can be used to attack and to trap her opponent and drown him there in.

Tobikomi (Dive)
After releasing the Water Dome and trapping the opponent therein, Saying the release command would cause the pressure inside the dome to escalate into extremes enough to compress the lungs of the person trapped inside and have him writhe in pain.

Rinkai (Critical Pressure)
The water dome is pressurized and compressed into a much smaller sphere. Upon the user's whim, this sphere will rapidly depressurized, resulting in an explosion that can quite easily tear skin from bones.

Agua
Turns Adrianna into water form when in contact with a water source. With this she generally avoids any form of physical attacks (e.g. punches, sword slashes, bullets) as they just go through her. However, kido based attacks would affect her. In water form she can not add or subtract volume from her body.

Sekka Yufu (Dancing Icicles)
When Ice Mermaid is stabbed into the ground or on any surface, it sucks out the moisture and converts it into ice and then shoots it out as projectiles. If these projectiles stabbed into another surface they then proceed to suck out the moisture as well and shoot another rain of projectiles causing an endless cycle of icicles like they are dancing.

Ice Wall - 氷壁 (Hyōheki)
a huge burst of ice erupts from the point of contact between Ice Mermaid and the opponents, encasing and freezing them.

霜の女王
SHIMO NO JOU
(Frost Queen)


Appearance

A pillar of water rises beneath the wielder's feet and seemingly engulfs her, the vast amounts of reiatsu released freezes the pillar and shatters revealing the wielder in a different form. Adrianna's hair turns all white with patches of white and silver scales on her shoulders, chest and legs. The blue sword changes it's ornate design matching the armor that Adrianna wears. Refer to the image provided. Just imagine a shorter skirt for easier movement.

Abilities

Frozen Sky - 凍結スカイ(Toketsu no Sora)
Activated automatically upon bankai release, this ability allows Adrianna to control the atmosphere, most specifically the moisture, in the area. The temperature lowers to freezing point and the rain continuously pours. It has a wider range of about a ten mile radius.


Dragon King - 龍神 (Ryuujin)
Focusing immense spiritual power on the blade of the zanpakutou, each slash creates a flow of ice shaped like a chinese dragon. Basically a frozen version of Whip - むち (Muchi). Adrianna can also create multiple dragons to attack the opponent at different angles.



Mermaid Mirage - 人魚蜃気楼 (Ningyo Shinkiro)
Adrianna creates a large block of ice that appears so life-like that it fools the anime that it is her.


Frost Flower - 霜の花 (Shimo no Hana)
The ability opens up a huge hole in the clouds through which a large amount of snow falls down on to his opponent. As the snow comes into contact with the opponent, ice flowers sprout all over their body, instantly trapping them in a pillar of ice.


Frost Temple - 霜寺 (Shimo Tera)
Adrianna creates many ice pillars which encircle him and his enemy. At his command (when he turns his sword 90 degrees counter-clockwise), these pillars then move towards the enemy, enveloping and crushing it.
