well hairs really easy to cut when extended, but the way he has it, it wouldn't be. not to mention many people just have naturally tough hair. still that would be if a normal person was swinging a sword at it, I can't see why gama would have trouble.
itchy? well its probably he has something under it. I mean its like a chain mail, most people dont get into it with nothing underneath.
