i don't get it, why hide the body, when Masaru was protecting his sister? If that criminal they killed was already known to be a burglar then, wouldn't it be easy to prove that Masaru was just protecting his sister, and even if he did get a sentence, wouldn't it be a very mild one?

it doesn't seem to make sense to me here. why go through so much trouble, and humiliation, and even be a victim of blackmailing repeatedly?
