If you are familiar with manga and like them more than anime, then yes why not.
On the other hand, the fight scenes NEED to be watched animated cause they are very intense with an emotional background(unlike Bleach and Naruto which is mostly technical stuff). And also there are many more scenes based on emotion which is much better in the anime.
