A lil history lesson Muramasa Sengo was the name of one of the greatest swordsmith of japan in the 16th century. Known for his insanity it's said he passed down his nuttyness and blood lust for battle on to every blade he made. They were known as demonic blades which needed blood on their blades before their wielder could put them away or suffer death (Seppuku) if not appeased . They were band to every samurai on orders of Tokugawa Leyasu of The Tokugawa Shogunate in 1603. Band for personal reasons not for the quality of the blades they were very rare and many tried to get originals only to find forgeries.

Now what i get is that this Muramasa is an evil zanpakto who wants to set all of his kind free to follow their natural instincts of battle kill all ur enemies. I think he needed to release Zangetsu for his power and uniqueness as a sword with untapped power which we still haven't even gotten close to see'n yet plus we all know Ichigo is a special breed of shinigami or a la the matrix the "chosen one". Muramasa is teaching how valuable and important it is for them to listen their zanpaktos which is an reality a extension of themselves or of their souls. A zanpakto is a person or being as their master are...with feelings,desires and ambitions jus like their wielders. Remember each zanpakto picks their wielder not the other way around...Even though it's jus fillers its all a learning process for all of the captains and vice caps. Hence why Yamamato was sealed away for his ultimate control and respect for his zanpakto which is astoundingly devoted to him. I think this whole filler thing is more perpare'n everyone for the major battle ahead.. Each one of them is facing their inner selves...good and evil ..ying and yang its all about balance.

Kind of a long ass post but i'm a history geek on the low low and when the name Muramasa came in it was jus a big pat on the back for me. Thanks to my history teacher in highschool for introduce'n me to japanese culture and history which we see in every anime ever made.
