Default Guitar beginners guide

Hi guys,
Not really sure how popular this will be on AC forums but I'm bored so thought would give it a go

The biggest piece of advice I can give is stick at it, theres been times when I started that I wanted to break it over someones head it frustrated me that much, but taking a section of what it is your trying to learn at a time and practicing it over and over till it sticks seems to work well ^^

Guitar tableture (tab for short) is the most common and easiest way to learn a song. Also guitar pro 5 is an amazing program and you can actually hear the song played before you learn it (which is handy because some are wrong)

This is a tab for Paramore - Ignorance, they can be found all over the place on the net but personally I tend to use ULTIMATE GUITAR TABS ARCHIVE | 300,000+ Guitar Tabs, Bass Tabs, Chords and Guitar Pro Tabs!.

Tuning (this tab): Drop D
Intro-

------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------
-44-44-4--77-77-7---44-44-4--77-77-7----------77-77-7-------------------
-44-44-4--77-77-7---44-44-4--77-77-7--55-55-5-77-77-7-55-55-5-77-66-7-4-
-22-22-2--55-55-5---22-22-2--55-55-5--55-55-5-55-55-5-55-55-5-55-44-7-4-
-----------------------------------------55-55-5----------55-55-5-------7-4-

Now a lot of people who are starting out just get confused looking at that but its suprisingly simple.

Basically on guitar each of the spaces between the metal on the neck is called a fret.

So with this in mind, looking at your guitar you can see each line above represents a string on guitar, so if the top one has nothing for the first note, that string isnt played, the second string down also has nothing but the third one has a 4, the 4th has a 4, the 5th has a 2 and the 6th string has none.

So to play the first note you would place your fingers on the 3rd string down 4 frets across, the same with the string underneath and the 2nd fret with the one under that and you strum all 3 together. This is called a chord.

This type of chord in particular is pretty easy to play, and is used in a lot of pop punk style songs in different positions so its a good place to start.

This chord is repeated 2 times right next to each other, which means these should be played in quick succession of each other. then theres a space, depending on the size of the space the time between next note is different.

Right Im gonna leave it at that for the time being, if anyone wants to add to it feel free, I'm gonna wait to see if its actually of use to anyone before I add anymore lol.
