I don't know if this has been discussed, but has anyone gone over the significance of the lost shadows.. in OP at Thriller Barc?

I've seen the anime and now up to that point in the manga...
and it's after reading... has anyone compared some of that sequence of original (not diss-ni) storyline to Peter Pan... and his need for his shadow...

Just curious...
