At the point where Ichigo was fighting his hollow among the vizards it was trying to get him out of the picture completely, it wanted to kill him and have him gone for good. After that we don't know, because we've never seen, presumably since the hollow is a part of ichigo it would still have the zanpakuto and could be considered an arrancar, but not in the same sense we think of the espada as arrancars.
However when it merely takes over his body to fight and Ichigo's original personality is still in tact but being shoved to the back of the line, I believe my previous statement would still be true |
i dont consider those little things "takeovers," so much as his inner hollow temporarily leaking out.
