I don't really care how Tite classifies it honestly. The only logical classification for Hisagi's zanpakuto is that it is a dual weapon. If Tite comes up with another way to classify it, it's only to save his own ass.

Look carefully at Ukitake, his zanpakutou is usually a single sword.

You can all have it either one of two ways:

Tite made a mistake, there are several zanpakutous consisting of 2 weapons.

OR

Tite made a mistake, there is just one so-called dual zanpakutou, Shunsui's.


Essentially the only difference between Ukitake's and Hisagi's zanpakutous are their shapes (and the powers that they contain, obviosuly, but that doesn't really come in as relevant to this subject).

There is no logical argument other than "Tite made a mistake". And since 1 zanpakutou being split into 2 weapons has already been categorized as a dual zanpakutou, the only logical conclusion is "Hisagi has a dual zanpakutou"
