Though I doubt it would be called R3 if it was an anime as it's not continuing the Code Geass story directly since it's taking place in the past. Then again I could be wrong.
Also this is why this is called a rumor thread. We're just theorizing on stuff.
It would be nice if there was a season 3 but right now all that is in the works is the manga. What probably got people jumping about a 3rd season was the mention of the manga being based on the actual anime show.
There is no word on a season 3 anime in the works other than that.
ALSO.
When Code Geass's finale came out, I forget what magazine it was, but when it was released it listed dead characters and Lelouch was listed in fact to be dead. Plus I doubt Nunnally would have been decieved that her brother died since she held his hand. As much as I want to believe Lelouch is alive (those videos are fan made as the official releases of the anime do not have that scene of showing Lelouch as the driver), C.C. was talking to the sky as if she were talking to Lelouch's spirit.
But this is what it says about Lelouch's death (The Writer says it all "Lelouch's end".): Director Goro Taniguchi states that it's up to the viewers to decide how they want to interpret the ending, but that he himself likes to see it as a happy ending.[7] Writer Ichirō Ōkouchi agrees, saying that while some may regard Lelouch's end as a tragedy, he too likes to think of the ending as a happy one because Lelouch created a better tomorrow for those left behind.[8]
Proof that it's just a manga: In late 2009, Bandai announced a new project greenlit for 2010. It is going to involve the simultaneous release of multiple products. A manga, titled Code Geass: Jet-Black Renya (コードギアス 漆黒の連夜, Kōdo Giasu: Shikkoku no Renya?), is the first product announced. It features a seventeen year-old boy named Renya with a mechanical arm who uses shuriken as his weapon of choice. The story begins when he encounters C.C. It is supposed to be set in the Edo period. Director Goro Taniguchi will be scripting the story, which is meant to be another part of the official Code Geass history. | Remember, just because you've seen something it doesn't mean that everyone else has, so use Spoiler Tags (-> 'Go Advanced' -> ).
