I'm also thinking that the overall time frame played a really big part in why they didn't go into all these, what amount to, minor points everyone seems to be complaining about. The events in the movie happen over the course of what? no more than a few days, right? Let's say, at the very longest, a week, tops. What exactly would the movie have gained by destroying the near-perfect pacing this film had to discuss stuff that isn't going to matter once they handle the situation anyways?
It was clear to me that everyone in Seireitei KNEW something was amiss, and what does an armed military faction usually do when they know they are under attack from an unknown assailant? They take any intruders into custody, & if they resist, they attempt to stop them with force. Just like we saw in the movie. They never had time to sit around asking questions really. Byabuyabo-taisho certainly evidenced HE knew something was up when he told Ichigo where his dead wife grew up. As you said - yes there were people thinking - thinking that things didn't make any sense; but how hard would it be for YOU to accept that YOUR memories had been altered to that extent?
