I can't find the source but it's stated as fact pretty much everywhere that Yamamoto founded the academy 2000+ years ago.
Which is weird, but that doesn't mean he was captain commander for 2000 years, he could of very well just been an instructor or simple captain. However it is fact he's been captain commander for over 200+ years.

Heres a Renji reference, he was in the 2066 graduating class. Which is also weird, considering he seemed to have made the acad 2000 years to the present date not 2066 years. That must just be the graduating class number? The whole timeline is iffy.

ishin ?
if shinigami age like humans we could make a opinion ,approximate ishin age,
but we don't know if he was born in SS or he came in SS after he die.
maybe yamamoto came after he die from the real world ,like a old man in SS, and for that he seems old.

i beleve those who came in SS after they die they don't age or get younger again, they stay still , and those who are born age like humans.

Doesn't work I'm afraid, Rukia came to SS as a baby along with her sister, and she aged.

Also, for anyone who doesn't get where I draw the conclusion that Unohana is second oldest, Shunsui calls her "dai-senpai", meaning that she would be the oldest except the "sensei", which would be Yamamoto.

yes, but we can estimate. Because shinji don't know him ,we can be near sure that , ishin was not a shinigami from a ordinary squad, meaning was in a special, hided squad or he was not in SS in the period shinji was in gotei 13.
Because rukia, abarai and the recent captains and rank officers don't remember him, from pendulum time to present time ,is a small chance that ishin was in SS in this time, and if he was was not in the open .
Then how did ishin spend over 100 years ,before permanently move in real world?
1.in hueco mondo ,on a mision (unlikely but not imposible)
2.in king dimension, in royal guard
3.in real world ,before he lost his powers 20 years ago
4.in SS in special hided squad or grup.

Also he said " we never found theys base of operation, nor uncovered their goals " "they are a tough one"
who are "we" ,maybe SS?
was a part of a special squad, created to hunt the visard ,or other powerful beings ?
the most logical assumption is that ishin work for SS in a special squad,most likely under yamamoto , and hunt for SS the visard or other renegade shinigami ,or powerful beings who oppose SS.
but for now is just a theory

The Onmitskidou is the Secret Mobile Corps, the faction that's integrated into the 2nd squad.

So I theorized that he could be part of some ancient hidden group(or even just a one-man assignment) formed long ago and then sent off, kind of like how nearly no one knew about Amagai in the fillers cause he had been off on some hollow extermination mission.
