So basically the guy with no Kido, relatively slow, no skills other than putting another hand on his sword vs the pretty, skilled kido using royal. Discuss.

Byakuya has speed, skills, and power (reiatsu, kido, etc.). I think he does triumph over Kenpachi due to him being balanced in just about every category while all I see Kenpachi have is strength/offense. Basically, Byakuya is a skilled fighter with tons of shiz to have the fight lean towards him while Kenpachi's moar of a tank kinda character, but tanking can only go so far when it comes to Captains like Byakuya. |

This one is actually kinda difficult. Kenpachi only has raw power, but he has tons of it. I'm sure he could break out of a mid-level Bakudo if he had enough time. And his endurance is insane. If Byakuya can keep the pressure on long enough I don't doubt he'd be the winner, but the problem is that Kenpachi just steamrolls through everything that's thrown at him.

I don't find it difficult at all actually, I think Byakuya has a clear heads up. :O Then again in Bleach the natural order of intellect being superior to brutal mindless force doesn't really apply, so... :X

Precisely. And it's not like Kenpachi is mindless, he's pretty good at knowing where to apply his force.

Yeah, but I mean... it's still force. No matter how hard he tries kenpachi does not even have a bankai to alter or complicate a battle, he just applies excessive amounts of power to his body to break the other person's ability. The smarter thing I have seen Kenpachi do is restrain some of his powers in the eyepatch so he can burst later. I know they appear equal rivals to the series and everything, but I personally find it quite stupid for Byakuya not being able to beat Kenpachi.

It's never a question of not being able though. They could both beat the other under the right conditions. It's just a question of who manages to score an incapacitating hit first. Plus, Byakuya's personality does get in his way sometimes >.>
