Aizen's Bankai!
Kyōka Suigetsu, meaning "mirror flower water moon," is released with the command "scatter." According to wikipedia, the name is some fancy pants chinese idiom meaning illusion, I don't know how accurate that is, nor do I care.

1. The scattering of mirror fragments, or even flower petals, are a breaking down or tearing of real, naturally occurring objects. (Yes I realize mirrors aren't naturally occuring, but reflective surfaces are, and it doesn't change the point I'm making, so **** off)

2. Aizen fairly easily diagnosed Orihime's abilities, abilities that not even Hachi, with his similar powers, understood.

3. Aizen used the Hogekyou, which was supposed to be dormant for a year. The supposed explanation was that pumping out lots of reiatsu would awaken it, but that's a little hard for me to believe. If a large dose of reiatsu would have awoken the Hogekyou, then the pressence of the Soukyoku 2 feet from Rukia's chest should have caused some sort of reaction, possibly hollowfication.

4. Aizen is by no means a veteran, in comparison to other captains, and Yamamoto, yet he has MASTERED every form of combat, something that we have no evidence of any other Shinigami having accomplished. Some souls could have a natural edge over others, but reaching the pinnacle takes time and training, and as far as we know, Aizen hasn't had nearly as long as some of the other captains.

Aizen's shikai ability is to alter perception. I believe that his bankai ability is to actually alter reality, most likely on a small scale. It is the only logical step up, and considering some of his actions, it makes sense. I'm going to continue looking for evidence, but that's what I have so far.


Also, on a completely un-related note, I found a funny little piece of foreshadowing. The symbol for the fifth division is called the "Lily of the Valley," nicknamed the "Ladder to Heaven."

This sounds more than interesting! Considering no3 about Aizen being able to use the Hogekyou without Inoue's power; It could be that this might not be true finally.
And since he is interested in both ichigo's and Inoue's powers , maybe he left Ulqy to "play around" with Ichigo to "test" and make Ichigo extract his true power like many pple already said.

And Maybe he left Yammi to do the same thing with Inoue. I mean he is the only weak Espada left and there could be a reason he didnt show up earlier. Inoue would not be able to fight someone stronger than him. So he might have gave him the order to protect Inoue from the two Lolis and fight her to increase/extract/practise her power so she can finally be able to use it on the Hogekyou sooner than winter like he said.

And those two parallel fights happening at the same time while Ichigo and Inoue want to help each other is like controlling their feelings to make their will and on the long run their powers stronger.

Hmm that's pretty juicy erazeN. But how exactly would channeling their power into the Hougyokou work? And would Aizen really leave an artifact that important behind?

Inoue was a ploy, I doubt he even needs the hogyoku anymore. They didn't know he was able to activate it with his own power. SS was under the impression he was going to use Inoue to reverse it into an active state. Although as he mentioned hes wearing it down, and was thinking about using her to fix it, but as said he doesn't need her anymore. But that may not be true, I agree with you. They seem to be playing with Ichigo in Inoue, this battle is nuts.

Well yea Aizen could be toying with Inoue...I came up with this idea that Aizen really needs Inoue but acts like he doesn't...

Inoue's power works extremely well when she is happy and determined...being in Hueco Mundo with the epadas took all that away from her...

He(aizen) knew that once Ichigo came to Hueco Mundo her spirits will be up...and he knew that ichigo would come for his friend. Thus letting them just waltz through to Las Noches...all so that Inoue would be excited for the matter.

Then when ichigo and co came too close, and the captains arrived he had to leave for the real world...and it's like soul society knew Aizen would make the move of leaving after the craziest people in SS came to Las Noches thus they put in the fake karakura before the captains went to Las noches

Well I could not possibly know that :/
But maybe , just maybe Aizen is not really interested in Ichigo's power, and only in Inoue's. That power of rejection.
Maybe when they told her that she could only say goodby to only one person before they take her to HM they just needed to know who the most valuable person of hers is. And finding that it was Ichigo they are using him now to control her emotionally and make her stronger for utter purpose to use her power finally.

but I agree, he has been interested in ichi since the SS rescue, and using inoue to push him even further seems rather reasonable, I dunno why he would want ichi though.. maybe it's got something to do with his (aizens) power? =O
maybe his bankai is the ability to absorb reality? farfetched but stay with me, he has mastered all these kidou / bakudo, pwnably strong (possibly due to his shikai but still...)
maybe he can absorb the 'reality' / powers of other fighters, like those who have mastered the forbidden techniques and such, a complete meh theory but it's new.. I think?

Soi Fon would have to be the only person who can take down Aizen at this point, with her Shikai.

Can you be strong in Shikai? I thought Shikai was just a unique technique. Thus, Aizen's Shikai would be.. the most useful? With the possible exception for Soi Fon's. Soi Fon + teleport / instant hit (maybe that's her Bankai ) = GAHH!!
