why did his powers come back abrubtly then?And Soul Society Knows of Kiskue's Gigais and they know Isshin left to the human world, cant find isshin? Go to Kiskue. THEN WTH. Is Isshin like a bannished. I personally think he got into a arguement with the top guy (sorry forgot his name, im bad with remembering names off anime, even my favorite anime, i know im a moron)

After looking over what is known more closely, squads 3, 7, 9, and 10 do not show someone occupying captain seat during this time where Isshin was a soul reaper, 4rd there is a gap between rose and ichimaru, 7th no information before Komamura, and he has not been around long enough, 9 there was a gap between Muguruma and Tosen, and there is no record before Histugaya for the tenth squad. So there are more possibilities than I initially thought.

Who say's rose was the first? This is getting annoying. they said yamammoto started this a thousand years ago right? or was it two thousand? all they said was five of the thirteen captains were there from the start. maybe they said six were but i'm not sure. either way there is about ten thousand positions isshin could fit in.

I felt that he was the captain of the 10th squad because they said he had met with an untimely demise, meaning that maybe he had stumbled upon something that Aizen had done in real world and he hadn't actually been killed, but had his spiritual powers destroyed much like Ichigo had. It could have been Masaki that found him and nursed him back to health (Never says whether or not she was able to see spirits) then when Urahara showed up in the real world he could have made a gigai for him.

I didn't say she was the first, that we cannot know, I'm saying she was there previously to Turn Back the Pendulum which is before Isshin would have been a Soul Reaper. There is no need to go further back aswe are talking about the time 20 years before the current storyline when Isshin left Soul Society.

The only two divisions that i could not find information on who the captain was at that time would be the 7th and 10th.

The 10th squad captian "met a untimely demise" and the 7th squand captian was one of the vizards (Love to be persice).

Finally someone other than me thinks that isshin is also a substitute. If he is a true shinigami that means that he is dead folks and I'm sure ss has some kind of rule against the dead mixing with the living(if its even possible). I don't think ss would just totally forget about a captain or zero squad member so easily.

I agree with ^^^ but at the same time, SS wouldnt let a substitute have a captains Gown. They look down upon substitutes, remember?
