I think they are misunderstanding you. they don't remember that the eleventh captain seat was saved for the standing kenpachi.

The strongest get promoted, and using common sense thats most likely captains. What do they do with their robes? I doubt they just toss em', but sport them on their shoulders? haha

Haha, not really Ishhin.. Well it could be he just didn't seem to be too arrogant, who knows.

and with his supposed streangth he may well have been a kenpachi only to be unseated by the new one... Zaraki.... I hope not though.

but being as Zaraki is looking for the best fight why would he chose to beat the 11th squad captain as apposed to the first?

We don't know enough about Isshin pre family to rule that out though.

That was his name. He named himself Kenpachi because he assumed he was the strongest, and Zaraki from Yachiru's district.
