You're misunderstand what im saying here, Rukia gave him powers, but its still his soul the sword is going to manafest from. Obviously its the same sword when he gets his own source for power.

I am not, im saying he destroyed Rukias power source in Ichigo, not his own.

i see what your saying i guess, but at the same time, if that was zangetsu that byakuya owned, then it was 100% ichigo's shinigami powers that got destroyed, not rukia's. what else was there to be destroyed? shunpo? kidou? he couldnt use any of that. in ichigo's case there is no difference between his shinigami powers and his individual zanpakuto.

Well i'll put it a different way.
Rukia pumped Ichigo full of shinigami powers, which were then manafested as his own creating his own unique zanpaktou.
Rukias brother took Rukias power, not taking away zangetsu, but taking away the temporary powers forcing out zangetsu.
Then Ichigo obtained his own shinigami powers, thus zangetsu is back.

Zangetsu is Ichigo, Byukuya just took away Rukias power not Ichigos.
Pump Ichigo full of power, zangetsu is going to be his zanpaktou reguardless of whos power it is.

sure, i can go with that.

i didnt think it was rukia's zanpakuto, i just didnt think it was ichigo's either. i assumed it was just a generic sword.

If her powers activated his then her brother would of taken them, along with hers. Her powers just awakened his dormant ones allowing him to become a shinigami again. Like I said, it doesn't matter whos power you pump into Ichigo his soul is going to manafest zangetsu.
