I doubt they'll be mainstream characters. They were just stuck in there for Ichigo's entrance for the new arc. By the entrance we now know Ichigo is back in action and is doing well in his new skin. They do this kind of stuff all the time in new arcs to animes. We will prob rarely every see these two ever again. Think of that little girl pluses Ichigo visited in the 1st arc, same concept or when we see her again talking to Eikichirō at the beginning of the Fake K-Town battle.

Hokuto no Ken got carried away with the entrance scenes like this. They introduced Kenshiro like 10 time in one season. Each time they would introduce a random ass character, have you get to know them, then kill them off, and have Kenshiro appear killing the killer. The few seconds the killer has to live, they always ask, who he is and of course he replies, "Kenshiro."

Same thing just happened during this chapter with Ichigo.

Nonsense, he just has to stop pretending all of Ishida's powers and expertise don't exist.
We haven't really seen anything of Ishida's abilities post-timeskip so far because he got surprise-rushed and hospitalized, so there's still hope.

It makes perfect sense!

Now that I think about it, Kubo has always given Ishida unfair matchups where the opponent can regenerate or easily wipe the floor with him.

But yeah, his opponents are often some kind of haxx. Ciruci was fun though.

I saw Mayuri, so I'm a fan of this chapter by default. I hope we see more of him

It was good though and it did make me excited for this arc. I wonder why they sent those two shinigami out there, when they were clearly weak. Kind of seems harsh to them.

The difference in the Naruto thread is I'm usually one of few people that dislike the chapters. And it's not like I spend all week talking about everything I dislike about it.

The difference in the Ippo thread is my personal bias towards particular characters
