You know, any of those minor improvements would still have been useless against Barragan, while the missile actually did hurt him with some help.

Ichigo's shikai does nothing though. His bankai sacrifices doing anything new to give him better physical abilities that randomly fall out of relevance.
Soifon's could have been an upgrade of her normal power, yes, but that's about the only alternative that is actually useful.

Well, they do get a lot of screentime by comparison, sure.
