But interviews are a terrible way to determine those qualities. All interviews determine is how good a speaker you are/how good at lying you are (which, depending on the job, that might be very important).

The most effective (yet probably the most costly) way to determine the qualities you mentioned would be to use some kind of probation period. That and actually check the references that people put down.

the questions always have to do with the job/your personality. they want to see if you're resourceful, how you work with others, how you deal with difficult situations, especially if it's anything related to customer service.

I hate interviews too... The questions they ask rarely apply to the job you're applying for... at all.
