A Tribute to Kamen Rider Kiva
Ah Kamen Rider Kiva. The one that started it all. It is the first Kamen Rider show I ever watched, and it is also what turned me into the Kamen Rider fanatic I am today. I was bored one day and decided to check out what DC (DramaCrazy) was all about. As I scrolled through countless dramas I came across one called Kamen Rider Kiva and thought to myself "What the hell is that?".
Letting curiosity get the better of me I clicked on it and saw a picture of something that looked like a badass Power Ranger, as I read the description I kept thinking how stupid this must be and how they could waste such a good story on a show like this. I couldn't help myself and I watched the first episode just so I could make fun of it. Half an hour later I found myself in shock at how much I enjoyed it. Sure there were things that I didn't like but those were out numbered by the things I did like. I clicked on the second episode and was hooked. I watched the first ten episodes that day, that is the most I've ever watched of anything all at once. When I finally stopped watching, I realized I had become a fan.
This show is absolutely amazing from the twist and turns of the story to the interesting characters. Until the very end I enjoyed every minute of it.

Now I'll get into more into Wataru/Kiva himself, my favorite character of this series. Wataru is a shy teenage boy with confidence issues and one friend. He often stutters when he talks and dwells on things way to much. When he becomes Kiva though, all of his issues seem to vanish as he fights and handles things like a pro.
His character development throughout the show is some of the best I've ever seen and you actually get the feeling that you know him and what he is going through.
He is a badass when you need to him to be, the one and only Kamen Rider Kiva.

Wataru is also my favorite Kamen Rider, and Kiva my favorite in the series. I really like the personal growth, the relationships, the emphasis on the ties between parent and child, and how family and friendship are shown to be able to surmount obstacles. Usually, heroic shows have main characters who are daring in some way, but Wataru isn't daring at all at first. If you are a meek person, Kiva is really encouraging.Posted 08-21-2009 at 11:54 PM by lullabye
