Hi everybody this is the 3rd chapter of Assassin. It's still a preview, cuz I'm still waiting for Nicky to send me the corrections... probably the english is not correct, so I'll call it RAW like the unsubbed eps... ahahah I feel like dark posting and uploading ahahah...
It could be little boring so I'll try to post the 4th chap as soon as possible, but the anime work (the translation lol) is a lot more difficult than the manga work (Writing my italian sotyline lol)
Upload 2: Posting the right chapter after Nicky's help (thank you Nicky as always!)
So enjoy, chapter 3:
MISSION BRIEFING
“We have two news” said the earl “But first I wanna you all to look at another situation”
“Which one?” asked Giand, a landowner.
“Price. It’s rising everywhere” answered the earl.
“It’s been years” mumbled Caleb.
“You’re right, my round friend” smiled the earl “But we have a problem: they’re way too high”
“What?”
“I mean” answered the earl “This time there are some speculators that have been earning too much. They’re merchant, they trade food and weapons, and they gained great fame. They could be useful ally or terrible enemy, because they are the best trader of that stuff”
“You’re saying they have a corner on everything?” yelled Caleb “How’s that possible?”
“It seems that their rivals have strange diseases” explained the earl “That their friends disappear and their home burns way too often. I don’t like that stuff, because I settled rules and they’re not respecting them”
“Yeah” smiled Caleb “So they’re our enemy, right?”
“Precisely” the earl smiled back “They enjoy doing what they want, but I don’t want to. Not here. Want to do something?”
“My pleasure” answered the round “But you know, I can’t jump in and kill everybody, you understand?”
“I know, I know” the earl joked “You are a kind heart, and that’s not your style. And I know even that u would refuse such an act. That’s why you won’t go here alone”
“Really? Who will come with me?”
Both of them laughed, looking at my hideout “Bring the kid with you” said the earl “And make sure he learn something functional”
I came out smiling from the hole.
“I guess it was this idiot who suggested you to hide here” started the earl “He always…” he held, shocked.
“I guessed it was something like that” I whispered, landing behind them “It was way too easy there”
Someone leaped up , probably Giand: I was wearing my assassin outfit, black clothes with hood and boots. It was all made of a strange stuff, warm in winter and cold in summer, and made my movement almost soundless.
The earl removed the puppet from the wall “Did you even hide that here so we could see it?”
“Yeah… something like that” I whispered.
“As I said” added Caleb smiling “He is the best apprentice I’ve ever been. About the practical stuff… we’ll see it soon, I think”
“You’re right for sure” the earl turned away “Now come here kid, and you all too. Listen to me carefully”
Slowly, we get to the table, looking at the map disposed on the wood.
“Here’s our reign” began the earl, showing a part coloured in green “And here” he passed his hand on an-other point “Here’s the edge with the reign of Syriandil”
“Syriandil?” Caleb said “I don’t get it”
“Syriandil is changing his mind here” replied the earl “The new king is different from the old one, you all remember king Grant. Well, this king Benedict is like chalk and cheese, and he’s angry about how things are doing in his country”
“He shouldn’t” snorted Caleb “We called them ally when we could have conquered it long ago”
“Of course” replied smiling the earl “But the young Benedict is, basically, young. He’s full of passion, most likely he dream about a world of honour and goodness fighting evil and craps like that. What we care about, however, is that he’s changing his reign for good. He has revived the financial system and begun a trade with the reign of Basilaria in the north. And you all know that Basilaria is our enemy”
“And our lovely king wanna punish him for that?” smiled Caleb.
“Our lovely king” smiled the earl “Want to do what he should have done years ago, make a district of our reign named Syriandil. But he need a hand to work for him before his move”
“I figured it out” moaned the Round “And I don’t like it”
“So when you’ll finish your work with the merchants you’ll get there, on the edge”
“And we’ll do the same old things” finished Caleb “Scandals, problems, and maybe kill someone of us just to make pleased a war”
“Yeah, but one more thing” said the earl “That people are strange, not really with Syriandil, even not with us… they’re edge people, and don’t like to battle against someone like them… make sure they won’t be a problem”
“Well you gotta ask for that at the boy” laughed Caleb “He’s the one who like to kill, not me”
“No, we won’t be with you” replied the earl “I have to make him improve with you, but I can’t be without you both forever. He will come back here, and will come with me to the capital. You’ll get we all here after your job”
“He’ll came with you to Opwin and I’ll go in that desert? I guess I’ve been demoted”
“Of course” smiled the earl “Now come back here and let’s settle the second problem, which is the same as before: Syriandil”
“Bad news?”
“They’re changing everything. We’ll meet the new diplomat soon, and that’s the reason why we’re head-ing here” the earl take a breath “I don’t like it all: we don’t know a heck about what’s going on, and we don’t know what’s the relationship between Syriandil and Basilaria. We’re on the edge of a war, and the balance we made in ages of fights is going to be destroyed”
“Syriandil was nothing more than a bait” Giand said “Nothing more than a pretext to fight against Basi-laria. It can’t be a force in the battlefield”
“The old Syriandil no, of course” replied the earl “But the new one, two or three years by now, could be it. Then he’ll be the force, the one we will search for an alliance, the one we’ll knee before to win the war”
“So the king was right” mumbled Caleb “Hit before be hit, and strike down with one shot”
“Yeah, definitely. We’ll have to completely destroy Syriandil, nothing able to resist have to survive. Our relationship with Basilaria is going down again, and we have to strike down Benedict before that all begins again. And before they can join against us”
We all turned silent. Everyone in the hall was thinking about the consequences of that decision. Myself, I wasn’t. I had no interest in the power of a reign or another. That conspiracy was simply useless. Dead men have no ambitions. But the earl gave me the chance to use my death as a quality, and I wasn’t pissed of being an assassin. Even when I was thinking that I had no values, simply killing someone I was told… well, I was relieved of what was waiting for me. Because there was something waiting for me, most likely. Years later I’d have disliked it a little bit, but that’s a different story, and I was a different man. I don’t wanna talk about it now.
My training had begun almost a year before, when we started that mission. I was twenty. I trained in shifti-ness , and I made my body stronger and adjustable, making my movements and my balance perfect. I won-dered why, but the effects were awesome: I was able to run, jump and climb soundless.
Then I trained my weapons: here too at the beginning it was a training on my movements and on my re-flex, my fight skills. Now I could kill a man as easily as I could crush a bug. Of course, however, it was all training, nothing about real fight: every sword which scratched my neck was grasped by a friend, so it would never seriously killed me. Now the time came to fight for real, in the real world.
I admit I was a little anxious during the trip, cause I was trying everything I learned: I’d better got to sur-vive, and not to fail!
