20 Tips for Those Heading to College

Just some things I've learned my years in college that I thought I'd pass along to some of my knowledge to those you who are getting ready to head off to college.
1. Learn to multi-task it'll make your life easier
2. Work ahead and stay ontop of your classes
3. Energy drinks will make you burn out sometimes light exercising will wake you up and keep you awake.
4. Know your limits, don't overexert yourself
5. Don't get drunk the night before you have something important to do
6. Regular milk spoils in about a week or two soy milk lasts months.
7. Study somewhere away from things that distract you.
8. Beware of cookies/brownies that taste/smell funny.
9. In a dorm there is no 5 second rule. Just let it go or you'll regret it.
10. Buy a spiral bound/composition notebook for large lecture classes binders are too big to fit on the pull out desks.
11. Make friends with people in your classes and study with them. They probably understand something you don't and vice versa.
12. No matter how much you despise it you will have to choose school work over fun.
13. Sometimes your brain can't learn anymore be ready to give up at some point.
14. Do research on your professors and the course before you sign up for their classes so you know what your getting yourself into.
15. Stockpile toliet paper, air freshner, and paper towel.
16. Take any chance you get to catch up on lost sleep.
17. Make time to relax you can't work all the time.
18. Beware rooming with people you are friends with, you might not be friends with them after living with them.
19. Invest in ear plugs or a nice pair of headphones (they will come in handy)
20. Do something memorable! College is a once in a lifetime thing have a little fun

Get and stay connected (socially and professionally). If you aren't already forced, live on campus a year or two. And don't be one of the kids who go home every weekend.
