I really hope you all aren't just figments of my imagination.
Parting Words

Here's the fourth one! A big thank you to every person who has read my work again, as well as the ones who commented on them.
This one directly relates an event which took place a short time ago. Alas, my father has left us at the too young age of 65, on March 13th of this year. I've only told a few people on here, but I now think I can share it with more people.
I don't know where you are, or if you're anywhere, dad, but I love you, and I'll never forget you.

Parting Words
I sit beside your hospital bed,
silent, thinking of what should be said.
Our family members look at the weakened you,
crying over what they can't do.
Time passes, unrelenting,
hours gone by without warning.
Hesitating, scared of being unclear,
and yet I must hurry, for your end draws near.
Words unable to come out, an untimely writer's block.
Nervous, I then notice it on the clock;
It's time to leave, gone is the leeway.
It's now or never, so listen to what I have to say:
"Dad, can you understand these words I utter?
It is I, the son you had hoped would be better...
You should know; I love you, dear father,
and I promise to take care of my siblings and mother."
I look at you in the eye, wanting to be strong.
You seem puzzled, as if something's wrong,
then turn to your life's love, as I take my leave.
That night you left us, and I still can't believe...
