Sorry for the wait! I've been having trouble getting inspiration lately, so please forgive the delay. As usual, feedback and impressions are most welcome!
Sapling
In a field of people I erred,
going through life yet unprepared,
when I noticed this calming sight;
a pretty flower, wishing for sunlight.
As if fated to meet, friendship came easily,
though conversation first came clumsily.
Many days were since then spent,
sharing the Sun's rays without torment.
And yet, just how things often go,
feelings changed and became a flow.
A seed of love had sprouted in my heart,
with its roots tearing my insides apart.
Never acting in this situation dire,
I restrained myself from giving in to my desire.
Scared at the thought of hurting my friend,
or at possibly bringing those times to an end.
Now, this flower that I've seen bloom,
unaware of how big in my heart its room,
has gone out of reach forever,
leaving me with nothing whatsoever.
I sometimes wonder, when I can't sleep at night,
if it was ever right of me to bask in its light.
