Perception

Perception can be a tricky and difficult thing to deal with. For instance the clashing of perception. So many things fall under the guidelines of perception. First off I will put the definition of perception down to clear the air for any misunderstanding or misconception.

per·cep·tion
n.
1. The process, act, or faculty of perceiving.
2. The effect or product of perceiving.
3. Psychology
a. Recognition and interpretation of sensory stimuli based chiefly on memory.
b. The neurological processes by which such recognition and interpretation are effected.
4.
a. Insight, intuition, or knowledge gained by perceiving.
b. The capacity for such insight.

Okay, now that that is settle onto my ranting. Perception dictates how one reacts to a certain circumstance, what one considers right or wrong and how people choose to judge someone. Every mind perceives and interprets all things differently. Yes, they might have similar views on a subject, but like a snowflake, all perceptions are different in their own ways. This is part of being an individual, as all of us are, for now, singular consciousnesses. Our own perceptions are one of the foundations in how we grow mentally and form us into what we become.

As for right and wrong I often ask myself, "Is there a right and wrong without human perception?" In other words does right and wrong only exist in the minds of humans? Does it exist outside of our thoughts? If someone says, yes, right and wrong exist, there is right and there is wrong, then another problem occurs. Who is to say what is right and what is wrong? Some people perceive things as right, as others perceive it as wrong. For instance, back when the Mayans made human sacrifices to the sun, which was traditional religious ceremony for them, it was right to them. That is how they perceived it. Did it only become wrong when foreigners with different perceptions came from over sees and said it was wrong? So when you come to the point when there actually is no universal perception, could it all just exist in the individuals mind? It is right or wrong if that is how you see it and perceive it to be and that's all that matters to you. If that is the case, how can all people live in harmony constantly disagreeing on how they view things. Perhaps it is just a bridge in understanding the way someone else sees something. When I try to truly perceive something, I step outside my own perception and view it as if I was someone else. Who am I to say if someone is right or wrong about how their mind naturally views something? Someone could say, oh well they didn't know any better. Well they weren't stupid nor were they children, they survived for thousands of years, I'm pretty sure they did know better.

But besides that one example I purpose that people should find a point where things meet. I'll use religion as an example for this. It has been an age old debate, war and argument over who's religion is the correct religion. Why fight over it? As I see it all religions are correct. Of course I will explain. Staying with the basis that everyone perceives things differently, think about religions. All people are aware there is a higher power. In this knowing that the concept of the creation of all existence is a huge thing to wrap ones head around it, being of human nature we fell like we must try. Finding our path to understanding our purpose. All people, perceiving things differently, stray on different paths to coming closer to the answer of our existence. Differently religions all have the point where things meet, they all are believing in something greater than themselves. Everyone just has their different ways of reaching that knowledge. The way one person becomes close to god doesn't mean someone else differently finding their way to being closer to god is wrong or incorrect. All people are different so why should their beliefs be anything but different? That's why I say people should meet one another where the basis of their perceptions meet. A common ground. Things would be much more peaceful if people could learn to step outside of their own bubble and accept and respect someone else in their beliefs, perceptions and lifestyles.

It is kind of like this. Maybe the color I see for blue, is completely different from the color you see for blue, maybe you see my green, but you have been brought up and taught that the color I see as green, is what you see as blue. So we would both see blue, yet in our different eyes, would see 2 completely different colors. We should meet in the concept we both are viewing blue, no matter if it be different colors in our eyes or not.

So next time you want to voice your opinion, make sure it is just your opinion, because after all, the way we perceive something is different from others. So really, who's opinion on any matter is actually fact? Try to be open minded and accept all possibilities of perception. You don't need a solid answer for anything. Always wondering is what makes life mysterious and fun, actually knowing something takes the fun out of it. So always be open for new discoveries and surprises. Don't have a gap in your understanding when it comes to something of someone else that you don't understand. Bridge the gap with possibilities of any perception, then meet them where the points meet. You'll find out and understand a lot more about things than living and thinking inside your own bubble of perception.

Edited to say: Also, you can't blame or get mad at someone for not understanding you, because chances are they never will understand what you are trying to say, they can only understand how they perceive what you say. So don't get frustrated and think someone isn't listening to you.... unless they really aren't listening to you

@lunar: "hey victor wheres ur dad?!"

ur right but sometimes perception is changed do to necesity for example society has basic morals that keep it functioning (dont kill or steal or any of that nonsense) but wen someone violates one of the more....extreme moralities (and gets caught) then they go to prison or jail and there u are with a whole bunch of....heathens they have their own code of morals in there....u have to change ur whole perception of wat is right and wat is wrong...u still have it but u have to altar it b/c u wont survive if u dont follow theirs

a supreme higher power is definetly real.....he is all knowing and i believe he puts us into circumstances that will make us stronger or break us down to test our faith and endurance (that is if ur religious) our perception is developed wen we go through these situations (again if ur religious) developed to include him and to break the bonds that the world has hold on us........but thats a whole nother blog :P

Being in jail wouldn't alter my perception, no one can force me to see it their way, I would happily die fighting for my beliefs

if you let others think for you, you've already been defeated

I hope you never have to go through anything bad, or anyone for that matter
