What's your favorite character type?

I would love to know what other people's favorite characters and character types are.
-What gender do you prefer?
-Is there a certain personality that you prefer?
-What body build, hair color, eye color, facial hair?
-Do you prefer scars or a clean appearance?
-Certain ethnicity that you like?
-Age Frame?
-Highly intelligent, sports related, artistically inclined, loyal, backstabbing?
-Do you like to feel empathy for the character or see them from an outsider or 'watcher' perspective?
-Do you like relating with the character on a personal level?
-Do you tend to like the main protagonist or subsidiary characters?
-Which do you root for the good guy or bad guy? If the bad guy, do you want them to succeed?
I am currently gathering information on character types for a novel I am working on and I would like to get a feel for what the masses like in their characters. If possible, please give your reasons for liking certain things about your favorite character types. Any information would be very much appreciated. Characters from anime, manga, movies, television shows, fiction, and even non fiction are all welcomed for discussion. I would also like to make this into a discussion on characters types for reference material and to help solidify ideas for not only myself, but other aspiring writers out there as well.

-Doesn't really matter to me, but I'd say I have more favorite males than females
-I don't really like "preppy" types >.>
But I enjoy lots of types of characters... funny, serious, quiet, etc. etc. But no matter what type, more backstory is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS a plus.
-For guys, I like them either muscular, or skinny. If it's a younger-type, chubby is good.
For girls, I like them skinny/normal, with a good body.
Eye-color wise, any color is good. I like the shiny blue/green type but also the no-emotion red/gray type.
No facial hair. Pretty hair is always good.
-A scar on the face or the arm is actually pretty cool-looking, but I don't like ones that have em ALL OVER.
-Not really.
-Not too old for guys, probably around their 20s. But there are those badass old guys too. Girls, I don't like the ones that look like their 7 when their a high-schooler/college student. But yeah I like them around their 20s too, but 30s is good too.
-Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Those are all interesting stuff for separate characters
-I see them as both depending on the character. Feeling emotion is better though, imo.
-Relating to them in a personal level is proof of a really good character, so yes, it's a plus.
-Subsidiary characters, but there are many stuff where I like the primary protagonist the best.

-whichever is okay! as long as they're cool it's alright with me.
-yeah, i really like the cold type charas! something like Kyouya Ootori (ouran high school host club)... he's a cold blooded, poker faced bastard. if they're a little perverted makes them better!
-thin, about hair: silver, green, purple, blue, red or black, eyes: w/e color as long as they have have a nice shape.. slanted eyes are very cool!!, about facial hair, anything but moustaches!
-scars make the guys look manly... i like them

-intelligent, artistically inclined, fighter (martial arts or w/e fighting style) and/or loyal (but in a mischievous way... like sanada yukimura -samurai deeper kyo MANGA).
-i really like a character that can make the reader feel empathy... makes addictive the story

-it depends... sometimes the main chara isn't that appealing to me...

-neither. in fact i even like stories with someone able to genderswap
-relaxed. I like the bad/good guy like stark from the espada. I dont like when they are too serious. but they cant be too childish either.
-I guess average to little above average. i dont like overly ugly or beautiful people.
-I might like a scar or two but not in overly obvious place. like on the back or where the heart is. i can take a small one on the cheek or over the eye.
-I guess someone with their own justice. is a good person but is still willing to deal with the greyness of society
-a little seasoned. I guess 20s/college age
-skilled in whatever he needs. if its a action story then in fighting
-depends on the situation but mostly like when its in first person or at least follows the person closely. the outsider view is nice for like a special chapter like showing the character from say a little girl or a professional or even a writer
-it is nice when you can get into the story
-I guess i like subs more since they dont have all that fate stuff and can have more freedom. not stuck fighting that final boss for no reason other then that they are main.
-I guess i root for the "good guys" since some stories like one piece have the people who are viewed by society as villains be the good guys but sometimes i find myself liking a few of the bad guys and root for them. i also feel bad when they end up losing. sometimes i can even see how the bad guy may be believing that what he is doing is righteous.Posted 08-01-2010 at 07:33 AM by tatsu361 -
