are forums.
As an example, the 'Introduce yourself' forum;

Threads are all the topics discussed in that forum. If you followed the link above you'll see Topic title's, mostly 'Hello' is used here as you can see.
To the top left there's a button that says new thread, this is at the same location in every forum.
A post is a comment to a topic.
As an example I will take a topic from the 'Introduce Yourself' forum.

As you can see there, people have 'POSTed' there comments there, you can add your own comment by clicking on the ''Post reply' button, which is at the same location as the 'Post new thread' button.

to post on a thread you click on its link, scroll to the bottom and type your reply in the white box that says "message" at the bottom.
then you click "post quick reply".
