2008 anime, first impressions

I watched the first four episodes of the new 2008 anime's "Ayakashi," "Strait Jacket," "True Tears," and "Persona Trinity Soul." AND I have some opinions lol, so pay attention and I'll tell you what these new anime's are all about!
First up, "Ayakashi, episode 1, First Blood"
It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either. The show seems to be about a handful of individuals who gained mysterious powers, likely from a comet. They apparently use these powers to kill one another, and other people, possibly to gain more power? The main character is Yuu, he's pathetic, the girl he swore to protect when he was younger died and with her his reason for doing anything at all other that whoring out his powers for money... I didn't really enjoy this at all. Maybe it'll get better, but I don't think so.

Next up, "Strait Jacket
This is a much more mature anime. It's about a world in which magic was brought into the world through technology. The magic changed the entire world, greatly improving the quality of life, but at a price. Individuals that overuse magic run the risk of becoming demons, monstrous versions of their former selfs whose sole purpose is to kill. To combat these demons, strait jackets, or combat sorcerers, using magical and mechanical weapons and armor, hunt down and kill demons at the risk of becoming what they hunt.
This is a much better anime, there's a lot of gore, and the tone is somewhat dark, but the characters are real. I enjoyed this.

True Tears
I liked this, it's just your typical high school anime. It's about a boy that meets a girl...I'm not sure if anything strange is going to happen or not, but it was alright. It was a nice jump from the last two shows, it wasn't as serious, it was much more cheerful in comparison.

Persona Trinity Soul
I loved the opening karoke. Animation style is similar to Ghost in the Shell, that's good kids...very good. Apparently individuals called "A-latents" are being turned inside out. That's sorta sick, but who am I to judge. These "A-latents" appear to be individuals with special powers of some sort. In addition to that, detectives are apparently being turned into invalid, they call this "apathy syndrome." The main characters are three brothers, the oldest being the chief of police (he's pretty badass) and the other two being high school students who've just moved back home to live with him.
OKAY, so after watching the first episode, this is the best of the new shows. I think it has a lot of potential.

Actually i think you were too harsh on Ayakashi. If you watch the second episode it gets much better, even though parts of it seem to come from bleach and naruto.
I would give it a 7/10 or a 8/10. I have not watched the rest though so i can't give my opinion on those. |

Actually, I just watched True Tears and im confused. I will wait till the next few episodes to comment on this since im so utterly confused.

LOL, yeah, I'm actually feeling sort of the same way about True Tears... I really don't get what it's supposed to be about yet!
 I dunno about Ayakashi though, I'll take a look at the second episode. I just didn't like the first one at all. |

I guess if you dont like blood and gore than you won't like Ayakashi, but i really liked it.(Guess that tells a lot about me lol.)

It's not that, Ayakashi is just a shoddy anime. I couldn't even watch all of the second episode, it was ridiculous. None of the characters actions make any sense at all if you put any real thought into it and then characters just seem to appear in order for something to happen and then they just stand around waiting for the next character without any of this advancing the plot at all... It's like most of what happens in the episode is filler and the characters geez, lifeless and hollow. It just feels like no real thought went into any of this... I dunno, I don't like the blue hair either...

I actually liked it. Your right though the plot really isn't that deep at this point. Im still gonna watch it.

well just wee comment on N.S. opinions,true tears was the worst anime ever,but still i watched it til the end,crap endind to be honest.persona i liked at the begining but now lost track of it,is just boring.ayakashi i agree it doent make any sense watsoever,strait jacket is the best
