Pure Destruction - The Assassination of the Gotei 13

Rukia Kuchiki slept soundly in her bed, dreaming of her long dead older sister Hisana. She awoke suddenly, startled by a deep, hoarse scream on the floor above her. She hurriedly threw on her robes and snatched her zanpakutou, strapping it to her waist.

She rushed out into the hallway, sweeping the long passage. there was a gentle thud on the stairs far to her left. Then another. And another.

Footsteps, She realized, clenching her hand around the hilt of her zanpakuto. A dark figure emerged from the staircase, his hands dripping with fresh blood. As he rounded the corner, to face Rukia, she could see his Black Espada Robe, and an eyepatch over one eye.

"Who are you?!" Rukia demanded.
The figure flicked his wrist, spraying the wall and the floor with specks of blood. The figure grinned in the shadows.

"I am Runne, Captain-Commander of Pure Destruction," the figure sneered.

"Pure Destruction?" Rukia thought. "I've never heard of it."

The figure vanished, and the white noise of Sonido echoed through the hall. Rukia started to draw her sword shouting, "Dance Sode no Shirayu..."

Runne had reappeared, his hand rammed straight through Rukia's stomach. "It's okay, soon you will know us. You will all know," He said, tucking a beautiful Marigold flower into Rukia's robes, which he had pulled from his own a moment before.

He lay Rukia on the floor, bleeding, and drew her zanpakutou from it's sheathe. "Sode no Shirayuki, the most beautiful Snow and Ice type zanpakutou in all of Soul Society. And yet," He paused, spinning the blade lightly through his fingertips and glancing down at Rukia. "Wielded by such an unfitting person."

Runne flicked Rukia's blade upside down, and plunged it through her heart, into the floor beneath her. He released the hilt, and continued silently down the passage.


Kira Izuru and Rangiku Matsumoto sat, giggling and sipping sake. But Kira stopped mid-sip, and looked into the distance.

"Did you feel that?" He asked.
"Feel what?" Matsumoto replied, her face bright red from the sake.
"A tremor... like someone trying to raise their reiatsu, and then cutting off." Kira rose from the table, and walked towards the door.

"I'll be back in a minute, it's probably nothing but I should check anyways." He vanished in Shunpo, reappearing momentarily on the various rooftops when he reached the extend of his abilities. He got halfway there, when something caught his foot, and he found himself completely tangled in a thick Kidou net.

"What is this?!" he exclaimed. Suddenly, the net began to burn him, severely. He cried out in pain, and ripped his sword from its sheathe, managing to slash his way free from the Kidou net. He fell down to the rooftop, Sword in hand, and felt reiatsu tremble behind him. He turned, to come face to face with a figure in a white Haori.

"Well well well, since you escaped my net, I guess you deserve to know the name of your assassin." The figure bowed to Kira, smiling. "Squad 5 Captain General Arrow"
