Chapter 5 - Whispers In The Dark

As Runne vanished back into the shadows, the Captains relaxed a little, releasing their Zanpakutou hilts.

"What are your orders Captain-Commander?" Squad 13 Captain Ukitake Jūshirō finally broke the silence.

The Captain-Commander had not moved a muscle during the preceding events, instead simply staring at where Runne had disintegrated. He did not even glance at who spoke now.

"Captain-Commander!" Squad 6 Captain Byakuya Kuchiki stepped out of the line to face the Captain-Commander directly. "I ask that you allow me to go. To find the scum that would dare turn their hand against us, and destroy them," Byakuya spat, barely containing his fury.

"And me," Squad 2 Captain Soifon also stepped out of the line, to face her leader. "Please allow me to rid us of these scum."

Captain-Commander Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto finally sighed, and closed his eyes again. "Hell hath no fury..." he chuckled to himself. His eyes flew open again, glowing like the brightest flame. "Find them and destroy them," He commanded, casting his hand out in front of him and pointing to the door. The gesture made clear, that this order was not just for the two enraged Captains. But for all Shinigami.


Squad 2 Lieutenant Marechiyo Ōmaeda was sprinting along the rooftops, leading a small squad of Squad 2 members in search of the invaders who had slain some of his comrades.

As they ran, Ōmaeda sensed a reiatsu spike to his left inside a nearby forested area, and came to a rapid stop , causing his squad mates behind him to smack into his thick backside.

Gesturing only with handsigns, he dispatched his team to covertly surround the area where he sensed the reiatsu spike, as he strode straight towards it.

"Crush Gegetsuburi," He muttered, his zan transforming into a large flail-looking weapon.
"Come on out scum, I know you are there!" He shouted into the darkness. He held Gegtsuburi with both hands, holding it like a shield in front of his chest.

There was a Thud! next to him and he raised the hilt of his zan to the opposite side, in preparation to strike. To his horror, he found it was one of his own unit. as he looked around, he saw the corpses of his entire team fall to the ground. "What the...?! that's impossib-"

Ōmaeda was cut off mid-sentence as Gegetsuburi crumbled around a blade. Not his blade.

From his very own shadow, cast in front of him by the rising sun, a figure was half emerged, his swords plunged straight through Ōmaeda's bulk.

"Who....wh-who ar-are you!?" Ōmaeda spat, blood now trickling down from the side of his over-sized mouth.

"You may call me Garra..." the figure said, tucking a single Marigold into Ōmaeda's robes. "Garraofduhfunk!" The figure grinned as he wrenched his blade from Ōmaeda's gut, and slid maliciously back into the immense shadow. Holding his wound, Ōmaeda fell into a crumpled mass of flab.
