Like most of the Shinigami after the assassination of Ōmaeda, Squad 6 Lieutenant Abarai Renji kept his weapon in Shikai, to prevent any surprises.

Like his Captain Renji found himself trembling with rage whenever he had the time do think. He had lost one of his closest friends in the first wave of murders, Rukia Kuchiki. Which is why he rarely gave himself the time to think.

When he wasn't barking orders to his squad mates or reporting to his Captain, he was running. He leaped from rooftop to rooftop, soaring over his underlings, in search of the barbaric intruders.

"I want them found, and I want them found now!" Renji roared to his squad. His men howled with rage, as many of their own had suffered by now. They charged off down the many corridors, tearing apart anything in their way, leaving Abarai Renji all alone.

Intent on preventing thoughts of Rukia, Renji turned the other way to continue his own search, only to come face to face with his enemy.

A young man stood before him, a Dai-katana clasped in his right hand, the blade approximitely five feet in length. Renji, like the other Shinigami, always had his Zanpakutou in hand now, in full Shikai form.

Renji needed no confirmation, this man was not his ally. Unleashing a furious roar of pure blood-lust, Renji charged, slashing down with his Zanpakutou, which extended forward, intent on biting into his opponent.

But this young man made no defensive movement. Instead he waited, calm and cool until Renji's blade was mere centimeters from his own flesh. The man, moving faster than the eye could see, simply tapped the side of his Katana against the broad side of Renji's Zanpakutou, and the extended blade fell to the ground, and skittered back to a normal size.

As Renji's blade retracted, the man was already upon the unsuspecting Lieutenant, slightly above him and slashing deep into Renji's shoulder.

"My name is Desuka Kira," The man said, as calm and cool as ever. As Runne vanished back into the shadows, the Captains relaxed a little, releasing their Zanpakutou hilts.

"What are your orders Captain-Commander?" Squad 13 Captain Ukitake Jūshirō finally broke the silence.

The Captain-Commander had not moved a muscle during the preceding events, instead simply staring at where Runne had disintegrated. He did not even glance at who spoke now.

"Captain-Commander!" Squad 6 Captain Byakuya Kuchiki stepped out of the line to face the Captain-Commander directly. "I ask that you allow me to go. To find the scum that would dare turn their hand against us, and destroy them," Byakuya spat, barely containing his fury.

"And me," Squad 2 Captain Soifon also stepped out of the line, to face her leader. "Please allow me to rid us of these scum."

Captain-Commander Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto finally sighed, and closed his eyes again. "Hell hath no fury..." he chuckled to himself. His eyes flew open again, glowing like the brightest flame. "Find them and destroy them," He commanded, casting his hand out in front of him and pointing to the door. The gesture made clear, that this order was not just for the two enraged Captains. But for all Shinigami.

[CENTER][B][U]Elsewhere, awhile later[/U][/B][/CENTER]

Squad 2 Lieutenant Marechiyo Ōmaeda was sprinting along the rooftops, leading a small squad of Squad 2 members in search of the invaders who had slain some of his comrades.

As they ran, Ōmaeda sensed a reiatsu spike to his left inside a nearby forested area, and came to a rapid stop , causing his squad mates behind him to smack into his thick backside.

Gesturing only with handsigns, he dispatched his team to covertly surround the area where he sensed the reiatsu spike, as he strode straight towards it.

"Crush Gegetsuburi," He muttered, his zan transforming into a large flail-looking weapon.
"Come on out scum, I know you are there!" He shouted into the darkness. He held Gegtsuburi with both hands, holding it like a shield in front of his chest.

There was a [I]Thud![/I] next to him and he raised the hilt of his zan to the opposite side, in preparation to strike. To his horror, he found it was one of his own unit. as he looked around, he saw the corpses of his entire team fall to the ground. "What the...?! that's impossib-"

Ōmaeda was cut off mid-sentence as Gegetsuburi crumbled around a blade. Not his blade.

From his very own shadow, cast in front of him by the rising sun, a figure was half emerged, his swords plunged straight through Ōmaeda's bulk.

"Who....wh-who ar-are you!?" Ōmaeda spat, blood now trickling down from the side of his over-sized mouth.

"You may call me Garra..." the figure said, tucking a single Marigold into Ōmaeda's robes. "Garraofduhfunk!" The figure grinned as he wrenched his blade from Ōmaeda's gut, and slid maliciously back into the immense shadow. Holding his wound, Ōmaeda fell into a crumpled mass of flab.

Squad 10 Captain Hitsugaya Toushiro vanished into thin air, moving so swiftly he was invisible to the naked eye.

Squad 1 Sergeant Commander White was just as swift, simply twisting his arm and pressing his released zanpakutou against his back, stopping the steel of Hitsugaya's own released blade in it's tracks.

"They always go for the back. So predictable," White sighed, flaring his immense reiatsu, forcing the Squad 10 Captain to his knees.

Hitsugaya's eyes widened as he collapsed, unable to move beneath the boulder of reiatsu resting on his back. White spun lightly on his heels, pointing the curved tip of his released Zanpakutou at Hitsugaya's throat.

"You know [I]Shiro-chan[/I]," White mocked. "I didn't think it was possible, but you actually look shorter down there."

Hitsugaya let out a small growl of irritation, deep in his throat. He inhaled deeply, and closed his eyes for a moment.

"Ban-kai" Hitsugaya said simply. He leapt into the air, his reiatsu pushing against White's on equal terms now. "Daiguren Hyōrinmaru," Hitsugaya continued, glaring down at White, icy wings adorning his back and frozen claws stretching down his arms to the hilt of his Zanpakutou.

"The strongest Ice-type zanpakutou in Soul Society," White whistled, his scythe resting on his shoulder. "Impressive. Psycho Cutter." White flicked his wrist forwards, releasing his Scythe which spun so rapidly it appeared as one bladed circle. it shot up at Hitsugaya, sawing right through Hitsugaya's left arm before he even had time to react. Hitsugaya's remaining hand shot to his left shoulder, eyes wide with shock as he collapsed down to the ground again.

"This power..." Hitsugaya struggled to speak. "It's... not possible!" He shouted.

"I'd tell you you're wrong, but actions do speak louder than words," White winked mockingly at Hitsugaya as he snapped his fingers, and the Psycho Cutter bent downwards, approaching from behind Hitsugaya and sawed through his remaining arm.

Hitsugaya's eyes shook, darting back and forth as he realized his fate. White stepped past him, seemingly absent-mindedly holding his scythe out to the side, catching Hitsugaya around the throat.

"Sorry kiddo. I've got bigger fish to fry." White placed a single Marigold flower in Hitsugaya's haori, and pulled his Scythe forward, cutting deep into Hitsugaya's throat.

[CENTER]Elsewhere, a little later that night.[/CENTER]

12 Hell Butterflies fluttered in the night, back towards the Captain-Commander's chambers, followed rapidly by eleven Squad Captains.

"Where is Squad 10 Captain Hitsugaya Toushiro?" The Old man croaked, looking directly at a young officer from Squad 10.

"He.... he's dead Captain-Commander, sir." The Officer replied.

There were murmurs of shock and amazement around the room, and even a snicker from Squad 12 Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi.

"What did you say?" The Captain-Commander opened a single eye to glance at the young Officer before him.

"The boy's right," A figure said from the other side of the main door, leading into the meeting room. The door flew open, and a man none of the Captains had seen before strolled through.

Everyone, except the unidentified man, reached for their weapons. "No no put those away," the figure waved his hand dismissively. "Squad 10 Captain Hitsugaya Toushiro is dead. As is his Lieutenant Matsumoto Rangiku, Squad 3 Lieutenant Kira Izuru, and Squad 13 Unseated officer Rukia Kuchiki."

More murmurs around the room, some of the Captains held the hilts of their weapons firmly. "I told you, those won't be necessary. I am not here to kill you... [I]yet.[/I]" The figure's last word caused several Captains to tense up, including a furious Byakuya Kuchiki. It also prompted another snickering laugh from Mayuri Kurotsuchi.

"How fascinating, just who are you? And what has brought you here?" Mayuri inquired gleefully.

"Captain-Commander of Pure Destruction, Runne666. And I am here," Runne bowed. "TO STRIKE DOWN UPON THEE WITH GREAT VENGEANCE AND FURIOUS ANGER" Runne roared inside the large room, raising his reiatsu level so that the earth itself seemed to quake in fear. When it seemed that every Captain's eyes widened in fear, he wide grin spread across Runne's face as his body and clothing flashed a deep black colour, and he melted into the ground.

"When you reach the pearly gates," the figure sneered. "Tell'em Optempo sent ya." The man unleashed the red cero straight into Matsumoto's widening eyes.

"Reign over the frozen heavens Hyōrinmaru!" A deep voice shouted from the side, as Optempo was overtaken by an enormous ice dragon, knocking his cero to the side and smashing him into the wall, freezing him solid.

Toshiro Hitsugaya ran to his Lieutenant's side. "Matsumoto, are you alright?!"

"Captain? How did you...?"

"I sensed Lieutenant Izuru's reiatsu spike. I ran to see what was wrong, but it vanished before I got close enough. That's when I noticed [I]him[/I] entering your room" Hitsugaya gestured to the frozen form of Optempo.

"My my," Another voice spoke from the darkness. "It would seem we've lost our advantage of surprise."

Hitsugaya turned slowly, aiming the tip of his blade around the room. "Who's there? Show yourself coward!"

The figure stepped out from the corner, his blade already drawn. "Sergeant Commander of Pure Destruction White, at your service," the figure bowed.

"Are you the ones responsible for these attacks?" Hitsugaya demanded.

"Bingo," White replied simply, walking slowly forward towards the Captain and his Lieutenant. "Rise Selene." White's sword began to glow, and transformed into a Scythe.

"Get out of here! NOW!" Hitsugaya roared at Matsumoto, who immediatly bolted for the door.

"Blade Cage," White grinned, plunging his Scythe into the ground. Five large Scythes shot up around Matsumoto, immobilizing her.

Hitsugaya raised his sword, aiming the tip at White's chest. "This fight is between us. Let her go."

"I'm afraid I cannot do that, I must finish what my chilly subordinate over there failed to complete." White snapped his fingers, and all five scythes collapsed on Matsumoto, impaling her all over her body and causing. A single, Marigold flower drifted down from the roof, and landed on Matsumoto's bloody chest.

"Well then," White grinned at Hitsugaya. "It's your turn."

"Raise Your Head Wabisuke!" Kira Izuru's Katana glowed a bright white. It's natural curvature vanished, and at the end of his zanpakutou the blade took two 90 degree angle turns, forming his blade into the shape of a hook, with the cutting edge on the inside.

"I don't know what your purpose here is, Squad 5 Captain GeneralArrow, but know that you are engaging the Lieutenant of Squad 3 Kira..."

"Kira Izuru. Yes I know full well who you are and what you are capable of. And [I]you[/I] should know how little it concerns me." GeneralArrow waved his hand dismissively. No sooner had this act of contempt ended, GeneralArrow vanished.

Out of the corner of his eye, Kira saw GeneralArrow's figure reappear to his left, and slashed horizontally in that direction. The blunt edge of Wabisuke met General's forearms. General slide his arms down, and grasped the blunt side of Wabisuke, using Kira' weapon as leverage to swing his legs up, wrapping them around Kira's arm and spinning, flipping Kira face forward into the rooftop, and dislocating his shoulder.

Kira let out a cry of pain as his face smashed off the hard rooftop. He tilted his head towards General, and saw the Squad 5 Captain's leg high in the air. He relaxed, and rolled off the side of the roof, landing with his feet on the ground. He switched Wabisuke into his opposite hand, and vanished in Shunpo. He reappeared above GA, his sword raised above his head in one hand, apparently swinging it down on GA, who's foot was securely smashed through the rooftop.

At the last second, Kira vanished again, reappearing directly in front of GA and slicing furiously at GA's torso and arms. But GA's blade was already in hand, and met Wabisuke at every turn. One slice shoved GA backwards, ripping his foot from the broken roof, and throwing him backwards into the air. Kira did not pursue, but instead waited while GA regained his footing.

GA attempted to raise his sword above his head, and pulled with all the muscles in his arms, but to no effect, the blade lay permanently drooping at his side, it was all he could do to hold it.

"Tch" GA glared at his zanpakutou, and then at Kira's.

"Wabisuke," Kira began. "'The Penitent One'. It doubles the weight of.."

"Whatever it cuts," GA cut Kira off, a crooked smile adorning his features. "I know all about it. Fascinating really. In the end, your enemy bows to you, as though apologizing. Unfortunately it has one serious flaw," GA chuckled.

"Oh? and what might that flaw be?" Kira's eyes narrowed, glancing from Wabisuke to GA.

"Hinata, Show Your Brilliance To The Heavens!" GA's zanpakutou glowed brightly, becoming pure light and taking the shape of a Jian. Even at a distance, Kira good feel the immense heat from GeneralArrow's blinding zanpakutou. The light was so bright, in fact, that Kira noticed GA crashing down on him from above barely in time to raise Wabisuke in defence. Holding Wabisuke horizontally above his face, as GA used centrifugal force to swing Hinata down on Kira's blade. Even though the blade of GA's Zanpakutou is made from pure solidified light, Wabisuke's effect still heavily impacted it, and Kira's arms buckled slightly under the weight of the strike, and could barely hold beneath the weight of the blade.

"I've used Wabisuke's own abilities against you Kira, and in combination with my own abilities, this battle is..." GA sneered, as his blade of blinding light began to melt through Kira's Wabisuke. "Over." Wabisuke's blade finally gave way, and Kira's eyes widened as GA's blade cut through his body, right down to the air beneath the two fighters.

"There is no room for Sorrow on the Battlefield," GA, said thoughtfully, as the two halves of Kira Izuru, his eyes still wide in disbelief, fell to the ground.

[CENTER]Elsewhere...[/CENTER]

Rangiku Matsumoto sat inside her quarters still, content to sip sake as her friends were slaughtered unbeknown to her. A few moments after Kira left, the door slid open once again. She didn't bother to look up from her drink, instead mumbled to her friend.

"I told you I didn't feel anything. Now come sit down and finish your drink," She said, taking another drink from her saucer. She heard footsteps approach the table, but got no verbal response. "Oh c'mon Kira don't be childish, you made a mistake it's okay, don't be a baby."

The footsteps drew closer, but turned towards her end of the table, rather than Kira's seat. Finally, she turned to face her friend. But Kira was nowhere in sight. Instead, there was a man standing over her, his palm aimed down at her. A high pitched whistle echoed throughout the room, as a large Cero formed in the figure's hand, aimed directly at Matsumoto's head.

"When you get to the pearly gates," the man spoke. Rukia Kuchiki slept soundly in her bed, dreaming of her long dead older sister Hisana. She awoke suddenly, startled by a deep, hoarse scream on the floor above her. She hurriedly threw on her robes and snatched her zanpakutou, strapping it to her waist.

She rushed out into the hallway, sweeping the long passage. there was a gentle [I]thud[/I] on the stairs far to her left. Then another. And another.

[I]Footsteps,[/I] She realized, clenching her hand around the hilt of her zanpakuto. A dark figure emerged from the staircase, his hands dripping with fresh blood. As he rounded the corner, to face Rukia, she could see his Black Espada Robe, and an eyepatch over one eye.

"Who are you?!" Rukia demanded.
The figure flicked his wrist, spraying the wall and the floor with specks of blood. The figure grinned in the shadows.

"I am Runne, Captain-Commander of Pure Destruction," the figure sneered.

"Pure Destruction?" Rukia thought. "I've never heard of it."

The figure vanished, and the white noise of Sonido echoed through the hall. Rukia started to draw her sword shouting, "Dance Sode no Shirayu..."

Runne had reappeared, his hand rammed straight through Rukia's stomach. "It's okay, soon you will know us. You will [I]all[/I] know," He said, tucking a beautiful Marigold flower into Rukia's robes, which he had pulled from his own a moment before.

He lay Rukia on the floor, bleeding, and drew her zanpakutou from it's sheathe. "Sode no Shirayuki, the most beautiful Snow and Ice type zanpakutou in all of Soul Society. And yet," He paused, spinning the blade lightly through his fingertips and glancing down at Rukia. "Wielded by such an unfitting person."

Runne flicked Rukia's blade upside down, and plunged it through her heart, into the floor beneath her. He released the hilt, and continued silently down the passage.

[CENTER]Elsewhere[/CENTER]

Kira Izuru and Rangiku Matsumoto sat, giggling and sipping sake. But Kira stopped mid-sip, and looked into the distance.

"Did you feel that?" He asked.
"Feel what?" Matsumoto replied, her face bright red from the sake.
"A tremor... like someone trying to raise their reiatsu, and then cutting off." Kira rose from the table, and walked towards the door.

"I'll be back in a minute, it's probably nothing but I should check anyways." He vanished in Shunpo, reappearing momentarily on the various rooftops when he reached the extend of his abilities. He got halfway there, when something caught his foot, and he found himself completely tangled in a thick Kidou net.

"What is this?!" he exclaimed. Suddenly, the net began to burn him, severely. He cried out in pain, and ripped his sword from its sheathe, managing to slash his way free from the Kidou net. He fell down to the rooftop, Sword in hand, and felt reiatsu tremble behind him. He turned, to come face to face with a figure in a white Haori.

"Well well well, since you escaped my net, I guess you deserve to know the name of your assassin." The figure bowed to Kira, smiling. "Squad 5 Captain General Arrow"

But you know what I've noticed, observing my own life and that of others around me?

Life always seems to be the same. No matter how you try to change it, it always ends up back in the same pattern. It's like being... trapped. Watching everyone else's life change; your friends, your family, your loved ones, but not your own.

Okay, so you've got this guy, and he's madly in love with a girl of the same age. he tells her, and a little bit later finds out she DOES NOT feel the same way. But he doesn't give up, instead he becomes her friend, believing her happiness is more important than his own, and that he will always try to be there for her. one day, a few months later, he feels that they've really gotten to know eachother, and thinks that she may have chnaged her mind, and may indeed like him. so he brings up the subject again. during the conversation, they talk about an upcoming dance.
