Hey sorry to be a nuseance but i need major help. Our computer had got this virus and we have no idea how to fix it. 
Any ideas?

all you need is Avira works well if it's not too late but make sure to download first on a clean system disconnect the infected computer from the net, do a roll back from a restore point that actually work, uninstall any antivirus program you have
then pop in your flash drive that has Avira the Free Antivirus and install and start cleaning up

The first thing you should do is in internet explorer go to Microsoft Windows Update and update windows. Most viruses take advantage of holes in windows security that people without updates are vulnerable to.
Ok the thing with windows update is though that most of the time you will have to install the updates and go back to it again and again until it tells you there are no more updates. This may mean that you have to restart the computer several times if it tells you you need to do so to install the update. Just keep going back until it says there are no more critical updates.
Next I would download adaware free edition from lavasoft (a spyware removal tool)
and a free virus removal program- I've used clamwin, others may recommend others.

Download ClamWin Free Antivirus for Microsoft Windows
Open the programs and run both of their check for update features to ensure they are up to date, then turn off the computer, unplug your internet, boot up the computer and run both scanning software. I'd do the adaware first. The reason for disconnecting the internet is just because if you have a bad virus giving it internet access will only worsen the problem and slow down the process.

If you don't have a lot of files (like less than 10gb) and none of this works I would personally just back up the files you want to save and format the system. Some viruses will block virus cleaning software and are nearly impossible to get rid of.Posted 10-19-2009 at 03:49 AM by andrew.wa -

It is an open source project (like firefox) so that's why I used it in the past.
I have nothing against avg I've just never used it.
