Was going to be a short response before I realized it had turned into a speech.

So I put it up here for all to see.
What do you think? Is the rp section really so bad off? Primarily due to lack of animes to base off of? Or is it simple lack of inspiration, intent or members?
I don't think its that so much as animes to convert easily into rps (generally ones with a focus on combat, all the constantly spawning OP groups being my prime example), have not been very common lately, at least not something that isn't one of the big three and has been running for ages now. I've enjoyed quite a few animes recently that were primarily comedies, mysteries, and the random animes from a previous year I had yet to see.
I also happen to see quite a few attempts to make rps based on original content, or at least content taken and based only on the premise of the show. These happen more often than you would think, often by newer members and while I would happily jump on the bandwagon and develop these into proper fun-filled rps, the threads they open in are largely ignored because they don't have the words (insert one of the big three or similar here) and aren't already completely set up, (a huge exception being White's rp he attempted to open months ago with albeit bad timing but excellent presentation and a backstory that could have supported tens of members).

Ohhh. Crisis in the RP section?
I joined an RP in another site before, which is where my story Against Gods in the Library section came from - it's based on my character in the RP. I've actually wanted to drop by the RP section but somehow I've been unable to fully grasp the rules in individual RPs or the enthusiasm. Perhaps one of these days.
On a related note, I can fully appreciate RP's based on original concepts, but I understand how it's easier to stack ideas on top of a fully fleshed-out premise presented by anime. Since that's the case, and if General Arrow's argument is true (that anime lately have been subpar), then yeah, you'll definitely have problems. lol.
Anyway. Good luck.Posted 07-18-2012 at 09:13 AM by KageNoKensai

i agree with P20.
some of the most entertaining RP's ive ever been in were not even based off anime they were simply thought up by a single person and run very well.
i myself have more or less retired from RP/spar's but i have seen just how little some people want to actually spar and that will ultimately kill any RPPosted 07-18-2012 at 10:01 PM by Otonashi Yuzuru
