If you wish to download the HD versions of this drama (complete) with English subtitles, you can try to go to this person's blog (I like her blog a lot as she posts dramas and the OSTs as well) and currently she is dissecting each of BBJX's episodes thru blog discussions:

AliceChen's World

DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU RIG
HT NOW? And she has it in mp4? I am loading it to my Zune!!

I have seen her blog but I guess I did not look close enough. I am really interested in reading the novel this came from. I need to find it in English. I imagine it being better than the drama, which would just make my year even better!

When my daughter goes to China this summer, that DVD collection is one of the things she MUST get, or she can stay there. LOL I was watching a BTS show they had on with the actors who play the 4th, 13th & 14th princes and actress who plays Ruo Xi. Them + hair = a whole other level of handsome.

*sigh* I don't want to do anything else now. I am just going to watch this again and again.

Hey! What are twin sisters for? Yes, she has them in mp4 and I have downloaded them as well.... but I have went online and bought the whole DVD set. The ones sold in China may not have English subs and I doubt there are any with Eng subs yet. Give it a couple of months and there might be Eng subs ones from Singaporean websites.

Yes, I have watched that one - I would rate it as mediocre and you can keep that for a time when you are bored and need something to watch. No hurry. Not addictive at all.

I need to emphasise that wuxia is different than historical dramas. Wuxia is a genre which involves a combination of history, fighting and fantasy whereas historical dramas are based on historical events. In chinese, historical dramas are referred to as "Gu juang die" (historical dramas) or "Gu die jie" (Historical series) whereas wuxia is wuxia. Pardon my chinese pinyin, not very good as I am trying to spell it based on Eng phonograms.

BBJX is not wuxia. BBJX is a historical drama (Gu juang die).

p2p2, depending on which ones you like, I can recommend good ones for you.

Lib, do you like chinese historical dramas featuring political struggles about how a great emperor became a great emperor? I have one that will cause you to lose lots of sleep and refuse to eat for at least 3 weeks as there are like 50+ episodes of it and each episodes are very addictive! It detailes from his birth to the day he dies - his battles, the women he loved, assasination attempts on him, stories of his children, the tragic things of his life and how he died etc. LOL Let me know if you dare to take up this challenge of not eating and sleeping for so long a period and I will tell you which drama it is. hehehe

New Heroic Legend and Thunder Angels have u seen? Thinkin bout starting either of the 2. both r 2011.

Okay watched da opening for both.
Thunder Angels has Gillian Chung looks like it gunna be a romantic one no special effects in da swordplay.
New Heroic Legend is da opposite more action special effects but not over da top n of course all wuxia have romance.
I'm torn between da 2 they have what i like. NHL i have access up to ep 21. TA up to ep.8

Dear Twin: I was not a fan of the historical drama but this show really wet my appetite for them. Please tell me the name of the series. I shall try to make my way through this new one (to me) in a timely manner, with as little sleep as possible. I also hope I will not rip out all my hair, gnash my teeth and try to keep up on meals. Perhaps I should make a hair, dentist and doctor/dietician appointment before I start. I should also probably hire a maid, stock up on ready-to-eat food for myself and the family and have some coupons ready for pizza and Chinese delivery. I eagerly await the title of said series.

Dear Twin,

Ok dookee....I went to my stash of treasured DVDs and dug out the said series. It was aired in 2005...so, it has been a while now but I remembered how I lost sleep just "chasing" after the episodes then. Unfortunately, no good looking blokes in this drama as it is a solid (no idols in here but all seasoned veteran actors and actresses) albeit sensational recounting of the life and death of the first emperor of the Han Dynasty. Good news is, no bald heads. The clothes and culture in the Han Dynasty is similar to that of the Japanese culture (actually, the Japanese kinda adopted the Qin-Han cultures).

A bit of history b4 u start, so u'll understand how early this dynasty was:

The Han Dynasty (221 BC) is the 2nd dynasty after the first dynasty in China (Qin Dynasty). After the fall of the Qin Dynasty, China was in turmoil. The states were separated and ruled by self-proclaimed kings (which are actually warlords). During this time (famously known as the "Three Kingdoms" period), the population of China was halved due to the wars, famine and migration of chinese ppl out of china (most re-settled in the "outer" islands that we now know as Japan and Korea). You probably know this chaotic period through the infamous movie/drama/novel named "Romance of the Three Kingdoms". Then came along a great man who united the entire China again. He became the first emperor of the Han Dynasty. This drama recounted his life. When you watch this drama, do not be alarmed with the kimono-styled clothes, painted white faces and red lined lips of the women and the "samurai styled" clothes of the blokes in this era. This is characteristics of the Qin-Han era and this is the sort of chinese culture that was brought to Japan and Korea during the migration of chinese ppl out of china then. See below for drama detail. Again, a warning: please start this only after you'd cleared your workload and have time at hand. 50+ episodes.... here comes Lib..!! hehehehe

#Title: 汉武大帝 / Han Wu Da Di
# Genre: Historical drama
# Episodes: 58
# Broadcast network: CCTV
# Broadcast period: 2005-Jan-02*

Cast

* Chen Bao Guo as Han Wu Di / Liu Che
o Du Chun as young adult Han Wu Di
o Bai Yu (白钰) as adolescent Liu Che
o Wan Chang Hao (万昌浩) as child Liu Che
* Jiao Huang as Han Jing Di / Liu Qi
* Gui Ya Lei as Empress Dowager Dou
* Ma Shao Hua as Dou Ying
* Chang Chih as Tian Fen
* Song Xiao Ying (宋晓英) as Empress Wang
* Lin Jing as Wei Zi Fu
* Lu Jian Min as Wei Qing
* Yang Tong Shu as Princess Ping Yang
* Tao Hong as Liu Ling
* Ren Zhong as Zhang Qian
* Lu Shu Ming as Li Guang
* Liu Zhen Bao (刘振宝) as Li Gan
* Zhang Shan as Guo Jie
* Li Le (李乐) as Huo Qu Bing
* Zhang Lei (张雷) as Huo Guang
o Fan Bin Bin (樊彬彬) as child Huo Guang
* Wu Wei (伍伟) as Liu Ju
o Gu Chang Peng (顾广鹏) as child Liu Ju
* Zhang Jing Dong as Liu Qian
* Xu Zu Ming (徐祖明/徐祖民) as Zhou Ya Fu
* Ba Yin as Shan Yu
* Shen Bao Ping as Liu Wu / Liu Qu Mao

There is also one that is extremely addictive and that is the story of the first emperor of the Qing Dynasty (the last dynasty in china, hence the most recent one), but I hesitate to recommend to you as I know of your adversion to bald heads and ponytails. The drama is about the bloke who started the Qing Dynasty. However, this one have good looking blokes for your eyes to feast on. Let me know if you prefer to start on the first Han emperor or the first Qing emperor.
