true, Ultear should have won. at least capability wise. though considering her emotional and mental state, it does make some sense how she lost (considring she never knew about her mother).

That's not what Reap meant. You said that she never has a problem dealing with anything, and in Tower of heaven she was defeated by Gerard and she was going to die.

Friendship is a recurring topic in most shonen mangas, I agree that it's over used in FT, but I've seen many ridicule friendship power up in most shonens.

Like Mario said, Erza was actually beaten in that arc. It's not as if she always just steamrolls her enemy like Natsu with a new flame, she struggles to get there and uses a versatile, believable ability to do so.

I agree. Ultear was easily the more powerful mage, but her mental state was rather messed up with her emotions. If she was thinking more clearly she probably would have defended better against his frozen blood.

ikaruga? azuma? hell no.

in fact I prefer natsu's asspull wins to erza's, at least they make sense given the dragon slayer nature, even if still retarded.

Azuma was though.
Usually however, Erza thinks things out and uses whatever in her arsenal fits the situation.
Natsu just waits around for someone to hand him a new flame.
