The Great War(OOC and Recruitment Thread)

War is and always will be a terrible thing. From the first tribes of humans fighting over territory and food to the most recent battles for Oil and Nuclear Technology, each war as terrible as the first. Men killed it's own brothers for nothing other than personal gain of some sort. The reasons wars occur are often simple, other times they are obscure or complex, sometimes they are both, simple on the outside but the true motivations are cynical and kept hidden from society.

This war is no exception to that, but it in itself is unique thanks to one specific detail, the weapons used to fight it. Unlike any other war this war is not only with firearms, vehicles, and missiles, but with something else that is around every human and has existed since the beginning of the Earth.

• 2009
• Iran launches it's first armed Fajr-3 missiles at Israel killing approximately 2,000 citizens
• Israel responds by launching the first nuclear missile to be used for war in history
• American jets intercept and disarm the missile shortly before it can reach it's target in Tehran
• Iran declares war on Israel and vice-versa
• America, Israel's strongest ally declares war on Iran as well

• 2010
• NATO steps into the war
• China, finding that NATO should not be involved in a war of two Middle Eastern nations threatens NATO to withdraw
• NATO declares it will not withdrawal from the war, claiming that any battle that directly effects oil price and supplies is a war that must be ended quickly or a global economic crisis will occur
• China, dissatisfied with NATO's motives, declares war as well, claiming that NATO is only in it for personal gain
• Russia declares neutrality in the war
• World War III begins

• 2015
• Israel finishes developing and launches it's second nuclear missile at Tehran once again
• The missile impacts, devastating the capitol city as well as many suburban areas killing at least 8 million civilians
• Iran surrenders to Israel
• NATO diverts all efforts to China
• China seeks other Asian nations for aid against The West

• 2016
• Japan, one of the US's allies, gives aid to the Chinese government in the form of billions of dollars in investment and trusts
• The US threatens Japan with multiple sanctions against it if it continues to aid China
• Russia joins China in the war effort

• 2017
• Japan stops aiding the Chinese
• Three tactical nuclear missiles are detonated in Beijing, Tainjin, and Chengdu. Around 20 million civilians are killed, the most in any single day in history. It is unknown whose missiles they were or who ordered their detonation, it is assumed that it was America
• The Chinese surrender to NATO and the United States
• Russia follows it's ally in surrendering

• 2020
• The Far Eastern Alliance of Republics (FEAR) is formed, an alliance between Russia, China, Mongolia, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, and Vietnam
• The Alliance of Middle Eastern Nations (AMEN) is also formed, an alliance between once warring nations Iran, Israel, Palestine, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Egypt, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Yemen, and Jordan. These alliance surprised the world as many nations that were sworn enemies only a few years before all forgave each other in order to further the Middle East

• Tensions between the EU, FEAR, and AMEN begin to increase
• A new perfect form of solar energy is discovered

• 2040
• Unnamed terrorist organization attacks EU city as well as US capitol, suspected to be AMEN extremists

• 2041
• Two more assaults on American cities as well as EU cities occur
• The EU and NATO declare war on the AMEN

• 2042
• The FEAR claims responsibility for the attacks prior to the war in an attempt to draw the EU and NATO into a war in hopes of claiming global domination
• The EU and NATO promptly respond by forming the Democratic Alliance of Western Nations which promptly declares war on the FEAR
• World War IV begins

With the discovery of new "pure solar" energy, technology has seemingly leaped forward tremendously. Households around the world are now more high tech than ever, but civilians aren't the only ones that prosper from the new technologies. The militaries of nations across the globe have been affected by the jump in technology as well. From tanks that power themselves, to large naval ships that require to never be refueled, the world of war will never be the same.

However, one country in particular is using the new technology to produce a weapon unlike any other. Codenamed the Atlanta Project, the United States began research with pure solar energy. The government funded the operation that was allegedly going to rival the discoveries of the Manhattan Project. Initial studies in the program found that the pure solar energies could be used to power autonomous suits that, if equipped with a Virtual Intelligence, could move and act on their own.

Initial tests found that the armor was strong, but not indestructible. However the armor also had effects that could increase human reaction time and make for better soldiers. A final assessment showed that the experience of a soldier gave them an advantage over VI controlled suits, thusly, the VI variants of the armor were scrapped.

However now there were millions of volts of electricity not being used by the suits, which left the suits open for modification. The military decided that the suits would simply be wastes of energy and resources if the extra energy was not used so the Atlanta Project was pushed forward, funding increased and more technologies were developed. Within a few short years the Atlanta Project made a breakthrough of major scales.

The scientists found that the excess electricity could be refined using by reverting it through the pure solar engines, transforming the uncontrolled particles to pure energy. This energy could then be rerouted straight to the nervous system of the wearer. This "pure energy" triggered the "unused portion" of the mind and allowed for the soldier to be able to use 100% of his mind, giving him unprecedented reaction times as well as increasing his general mental capacity ten fold.

But that wasn't all that this pure energy could do, it could also be routed outwards from the suit to manipulate objects, particularly basic molecules. In layman's terms, the ability to use the elements as weapons. What once seemed like Science Fiction was now attainable thanks to the pure solar drivers and pure energy.

The armor, now named E.T.H.O.S. or Elemental and Tactical Halo Operation Suit is a public project for soldiers willing to take risks of severe injury and disability to become the ultimate soldier. Each suit is designed to be able to manipulate a single element, with each variant having it's own, slightly unique look.

Unbeknownst to the public, work on another ETHOS suit, called the Master Suit is still being conducted. The Master Suit is a suit designed to handle all of the elements, while in theory the suit should be simple to build, simply combine the aspects of every element into one suit, the pure energy for some reason becomes disrupted when more than one basic molecule is manipulated in production, disallowing for a suit to use even two elements.

Now ETHOS are found in both DAWN, FEAR, and AMEN military operations, however their high cost prevents them from being too common on battlefields.



The situation has only gotten even more tense with the introduction of ETHOS to the general population as it makes soldiers now seem more superhuman than before. The FEAR and AMEN find that thanks to the stolen ETHOS they are more than capable of contending against DAWN.

Battles are now common on American soil, especially in Hawaii and Alaska where the FEAR has made it their objective to control the American soil and weaken the DAWN while AMEN assaults the European front.

Our story begins in Kauaʻi, the second most western island of the Hawaiian islands, where the FEAR and AMEN has launched an assault to take the fourth largest of the Hawaiian islands.
