Oh dear. Slide 39 in this Sony presentation – headed “Media/Investor Conference,” and dated November 19 – appears to admit that some kind of subscription service is on the way to PSN. PSN is listed as one of the key advantages of PlayStation 3, as it’s to provide a “new revenue stream from subscription”. The slide also says that a “non-game software development kit” is to be released in the second quarter of 2010. Rumour for now

For Zelda fans: In an interview with Official Nintendo Magazine, Nintendo's Eiji Aonuma mentioned that the next Zelda for Wii will shake things up by changing the classic structure. "It is something we used to talk about with Mr. Miyamoto, and he and I agree that if we are following the same structure again and again, we might not be able to give long time Zelda fans a fresh surprise," said Aonuma. He continued, "So we have been trying something new in terms of the structure of the Wii version of the new Zelda game this time. I am really hopeful that people will be surprised with the changes we have implemented for this Wii version." While we applaud fresh ideas, and admit it’s probably time for Zelda to stop being so formulaic, it’s going to be difficult to implement something even better. We’ll have to wait and hold our preconceptions until more news is revealed at E3 2010. |
