Guardian

"That girl just keeps walking" Travis mumbled to himself as he yelled at her “SASHA!!” but she didn’t even turn, He floated over to her and stood right in her path and yelled “STOP!!” but she didn’t even flinch, she just kept walking. He followed her for a while, Travis had to stop her from going home. He went up and put his mouth near her ear and whispered “Sasha, stop walking.” She stopped and looked around, her eyes darting from side to side. She shrugged, stopping and turning around, she looked at her watch and thought “Its early, maybe I’ll just go to Cassie’s house.” She turned and started to walk towards Cassie's house, Travis let go a sigh of relief and followed her closely. "This girl was going to be the death of me" he thought as Joe appeared before him. Joe frowned, looking quickly at Sasha before staring at Travis, “Master wants to know why you did that Travis.” Keeping one eye on Sasha, Travis looked at Joe. “Why I did what?” he said, grinning slightly.

Joe rolled his eyes and pointed at Sasha, “You stopped her from going home.” Travis floated towards Joe. “She’s not going to have an enjoyable experience if she goes home.” he said his eyes dropping to the ground. Joe's expression did change. “You are her guardian, not someone who tells her what to do. She has to live her life, not you live it for her. It was her choice to go home and you changed it.” Travis held up his hand, stopping Joe. “No, she didn’t really want to go home, I just nudged her in a different direction.” he said, looking back at Sasha. Joe shook his head, opening a portal behind him. “This is your second warning Travis, one more an you’re out.” he said, jumping throgh his portal "One more chance". Travis ignored him, turning towards the girl, who was standing along the side of the street. His main focus was now on Sasha as she stopped at the cross walk. Sasha started to step into the street as a car was coming. and Travis knew she thought she could make it. Travis quickly whispered “You wont make it.” Sasha stopped and let it pass then continued across the street.

Travis sighed as Sasha finally reached Cassie’s house, he smiled as Sasha brushed a strand of hair behind her ear as she knocked on the door. After a few seconds Cassie opened door, smiling as she saw Sasha. “Hi girl what are you doin here?” she asked, stepping out onto the doorstep. Sasha frowned, “Honestly, I don’t know, was walking home and decided to come here instead.” Cassie laughed, stepping aside. “Well come in, come in.” she said smiling. Sasha laughed and walked in as Travis followed closely behind. Travis waved as he saw Cassie's guardian was sitting on the couch. As Travis sat down next to him, Mark shook his head laughing as he patted Travis on the back. “Travis, Travis, Travis, I hear you got another warning from master.” he said smugly. Making sure to keep one eye on Sasha Travis laughed “Yeah, I stopped her from going home and Joe was there like I knew he would be.” Mark tapped Travis' head “You’ve got it bad, don’t you.” he said motioning towards Sasha.

Travis frowned as he stared at Mark “What?” he said looking at the floor. Mark tapped his shoulder and pointed towards Sasha “You fell in love with her, didnt you, with your Sasha.” Travis was quiet as Mark appeared in front of him “You’ve gotta be real careful now Travis.” “I know, I know.” he said, looking from Mark to Sasha. Travis sighed. "Mark,I don’t think you do! Do you know how hard it is for me?!” he said almost yelling, "She just left the room and im already getting ancy!" Mark shook his head as he pulled Travis into the other room. Mark smiled “I can see you love her, I know you do, let’s keep both of our loves between us.” Travis smiled. “Deal, how are you and Cassie getting along?” Mark laughed as he patted himself on the back. “We are actually doing good. She listens and hears my ever word now.” he said laughing. “Really? Every single word?” Cassie said as Travis' jaw dropped. "She can hear us?!?" he said hiding beind a pillow. “Yes.Actually..” Cassie interrupted us by calling Mark’s name “Mark? Who else is here with you?” Travis blinked a few times before turning to Mark. “She can hear you THAT good?” Cassie laughed “Yes I can hear you both.” Sasha laughed at Cassie “Mark’s here?” Cassie laughed “He’s always here.” Sasha frowned, looking down at her hands. “I wish I had a guardian.” she said looking up at Cassie. Travis took a step forward and ran his fingers along Sasha’s cheek “You do baby, you do.” Cassie smiled at Sasha “Who says you don’t?" Cassie turned to Mark."Mark who is Sasha's guardian?" Mark walked over and put his arms around Cassie “His name is Travis, he’s Sasha’s guardian.”

Cassie smiled and as Sasha bounced on the couch. “What, what, what did he say?” Cassie smiled and winked at Sasha. “You do have a guardian and his name is Travis.”

Sasha fell asleep on Cassie’s couch; Travis sat at her feet, smiling. Cassie was sitting in the kitchen on the chair; she spoke into the room “Mark?” He looked up answering “Yes Cassie?” She smiled “Where are you?” He grinned “I’m right here, near the steps to the basement.” Cassie stood up and walked over to the steps “Where?” Mark reached up and grabbed her hand “Right here.” He pulled her down next to him. She smiled as Mark put his arms around her, Cassie could sense it. Mark smiled “Soon.” Travis cocked his head and listened as she responded “You keep saying that. How soon is soon?” Mark rubbed her arm “You can feel me now, so pretty soon you might be able to see me.” Travis stopped cold “MARK!! If you do that and master finds out, you’ll be-“ Mark brought up his hand sharply “Travis, enough.” Cassie looked up, scanning the room “No, let him finish, you never tell me what consequences you have to go through for me.” Travis shook his head, sighing “If he wants you to know, he’ll tell you.” Cassie smiled “Where are you Travis?” Travis chuckled “I’m sitting at Sasha’s feet.” Cassie leaned over toward Mark, whispering “Are they like us?” Mark brushed the hair out of Cassie’s face as her green eyes sparkled, seeming to find him “Well, Travis is but Sasha doesn’t fully know yet.” All the sudden Cassie’s face Changed, Mark blinked “What?!” She took a shaky breath “I can see you.” Travis sat upright “YOU can see him?!” Her voice got higher “I can see him! His blue eyes and brown hair, I can see him.” Mark smiled big “How’s this possible?” He pulled Cassie into his lap and looked up at me “Now what?” Travis shook his head “You have to be extremely careful!” Cassie laughed “Careful is my middle name.”
Sasha’s eyes slowly came open and she looked around the room, Cassie laughed in the kitchen and Sasha yawned “Cassie, I fell asleep!” Cassie stuck her head around the door “Um, yeah, duh, why do you think you’re on my couch with Travis at your feet.” Sasha stood straight up “What?”
“Yeah, Travis is at your feet.”
“Travis, my guardian?” Cassie walked up to Sasha and put her hands on her shoulders “Yes girl, we went through this last night.” Sasha blinked “So, Mark’s here too?” Cassie shook her head “Okay, lemme explain Sasha-“ Cassie took Sasha’s face and laughed “THEY NEVER LEAVE!” Cassie let go of Sasha’s shoulders and walked back toward the kitchen “Want breakfast?” Sasha nodded and took a step toward the kitchen. She heard Cassie fire up the stove and felt something next to her. Travis ran his fingers through Sasha’s hair as she walked toward the kitchen and smiled “This girl.” Mark appeared next to Travis “Man, control your emotions, I can freaking sense them from a mile away.” Travis took a deep breath and glanced at Mark “She woke up.” There was a sarcastic tone to Mark’s voice “No, really?”
“Don’t be sarcastic.” Mark put his hands up “All I’m saying is keep your emotions controlled.”
“Or what?” A voice interrupted them “Or I might get called.” Travis and Mark tensed at the voice, Mark growled “Ivan! Get out of this house!” Travis sensed Cassie stick her head around the kitchen wall and glance at them. Mark and Ivan were staring each other down as Travis motioned for Cassie to get back into the kitchen, she obeyed.
Ivan laughed “You are both idiots. You think high command doesn’t know about you two?” Mark appeared inches from Ivan’s face “You piece of trash, I told you to get out of this house!” Ivan laughed into Mark’s face “Me? Me, piece of trash? HA! You fell in love with Cassie!” Travis took a step forward “You two, enough!” Cassie drug Sasha into the living room and Cassie growled “Can’t guys ever get along?!” Mark looked from Cassie to Ivan and back again “Cassie, get back in the kitchen.” She blinked a few times and glanced at Travis, he nodded. Sasha looked blankly around the room “Who the heck is in here?” Cassie turned toward Sasha “Mark and Travis and some other guy who Mark doesn’t like.” Travis appeared next to Cassie and whispered “Get back into the kitchen, this man will kill you.” Cassie’s face paled and she drug Sasha back into the kitchen. Ivan laughed “What did you say to her Travis?” Travis slowly turned toward Ivan “Get out.” Ivan cocked his head “Make me.” The entire room darkened and Travis locked his eyes with Ivan “GET OUT!” The entire room shook and Ivan involuntarily took a step back “Where did you-“ before he could finish his sentence Ivan was thrown back through the wall into the cold street, Mark and Travis appeared next to him, Travis growled “You ever come back and I’ll kill you before I sense you.”
Cassie whirled around the kitchen wall “Jeez! Travis can be scary!” Sasha was totally lost “What the heck is going on?!” Cassie explained “Travis and Mark were ‘talking’ to a guy. Since you couldn’t see him I’m assuming he was of the guardian decent. They didn’t look to happy to see him then Travis told me to get back into the kitchen cause this guy would kill us.” Sasha sat down in one of the chairs at the table “There is a whole nother world?” Cassie stood up as Mark and Travis appeared in the room “What happened guys?” Sasha turned in her chair “They’re here?” She nodded at the entrance to the kitchen; Sasha stood up and walked over to near where Travis and Mark were “Here?” She wagged her hands around in the air; Cassie laughed “You almost hit Mark in the head.” Sasha laughed “Sorry Mark.” She felt the air beside her move, she breathed in slowly “I felt him.” Cassie slowed “What?”
“I felt the air move.” Travis slowly moved forward, next to Sasha, whispering in her ear “You want to see me?” Sasha’s eyes closed and she nodded, Travis glanced at Mark, who shrugged. Travis moved in front of Sasha “Do you believe in me?” Sasha smiled “I can hear you clearly when you talk, does that count?” Travis cocked his head “My advice not good?” She laughed, her eyes coming open then just stared. Travis smiled “Wow, worked a lot faster with Sasha then with Cassie.” Cassie whacked Travis’s arm “Hey!” Mark laughed “Well it’s the truth but I think Sasha is more in love with Travis then you were with me, at that time Cassie.” Cassie gave Mark a look and he laughed, Sasha stepped forward “How long have you been here?” She was looking directly at Travis, who answered “Since you were born. You are, how shall we say, are special.” Cassie glanced at Mark, whose face had become like stone. Cassie cleared her throat “What’s that mean?” Mark took a step toward Travis, who threw up his hands “Nothing, never mind.” Cassie’s green eyes locked with Travis’s, giving him a warning, he gave away nothing. Sasha sat at the table “I can’t believe this is happening.” Travis watched her “More things are gonna happen.” She glanced up at him “Wha-“ Before she finished her sentence Joe appeared between the four of them “What in the freaking world is going on here?!?!” Travis appeared next to Sasha and Mark appeared next to Cassie. Joe glanced at both the girls “They can see me, I’m assuming.” Mark answered “Yes, they can.” Joe swore under his breath “Why is it always you two who get into trouble?” Travis and Mark cracked up laughing “Hey, what do you expect from us.” Joe didn’t even smile “Master is pissed.” Mark and Travis shared a look, Travis spoke “When?”
“Tomorrow afternoon, around 2 o’clock.”
“We’ll be there, we’re gonna be in trouble?”
“Trouble? HA! Trouble isn’t even a word for it. He’s pissed off, more then I’ve seen him in a while.” Joe disappeared and everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Mark shook his head “This isn’t gonna be good Travis.” Travis swallowed “What should we do? They’ll probably take Cassie and Sasha away from us, wouldn’t you say?” Mark nodded “That’ll be the least of what happens.” Cassie sprung up “NO! I don’t want a different guardian!” Mark put his arm around Cassie “Don’t worry baby, it’ll work out.” Travis laughed “All work out hu?” Mark threw a look at Travis, who shrugged “You know what’s going to happen, we’re going to either be re-assigned or sent to the dungeon.” Sasha stood up “Wait, what?!” Cassie grabbed Mark’s arm “No!” Mark ran his fingers up Cassie’s arm “There isn’t anything we can do.” Sasha sucked in a breath “Could we run away?” Travis and Mark were both quiet, the last people who had run away were hunted down and brutally killed. Cassie cleared her throat “Why don’t we run away?” Travis brought his fingers up and rubbed his eyes “We can’t run away.” Mark continued “No, no, we can’t. We’ll die if we try.” Cassie shook her head “Okay boys, let me put it like this, you’d rather be locked up in a dungeon or re-assigned then try and run away?” Mark’s face paled a bit “The four of us will die, if we run.” Sasha grabbed onto Travis’s arm “Please.” Travis glanced at Mark “You wanna do this?”
“No.”
“Are we gonna do this?”
“Yes.”
“When?”
“Tonight.”
Travis’s fingers ran across sleeping Sasha’s arm, she stirred ever so slightly and he smiled, whispering “This will probably be one of the last nights of restful sleep you’ll get.” Mark whispered back “And this won’t be a full night’s sleep-“ He glanced at Cassie, sleeping a few inches away “For either of them.”
Travis whispered in Sasha’s ear “Time to get up little miss.” Her brown eyes slowly opened and locked with Travis’s, she smiled “Nice waking up and being able to see you.” Travis grinned “Nice for you to finally see me but it’s time we get going.” Mark had woken Cassie and she was sitting up “Well, where to?” Mark yawned “We’re taking you girls to another dimension, where we can’t be traced.” Sasha laughed “Invisible people, different dimensions, anything else?” Travis smirked “Not yet.” Mark stood up “Well, you two ready?” He looked from Cassie to Sasha. Cassie nodded; Sasha took a deep breath “What about my family?” Cassie had no family so that wasn’t a problem. Travis sighed “Sasha, you’re family are idiots but don’t worry, they’ll think you’re staying with Cassie or something.” She nodded “Okay then, let’s rock-n-roll.” Travis stood Sasha up and put his arms around her shoulders, Mark did the same with Cassie, they glanced at each other, Mark was the one that spoke “And our journey begins.” Everything went dark.
