i think all started with code:geass and since then i watched

I have watch till episode 2 and mecha has not been specifically the theme here, it's more about superheroes and they're struggles/personal life and surroundings, the main character

in other words the main character is not the average teenage boy and/or adolescent that we always see in anime/manga and that's an aspect I loved, because it's something different and refreshing.

i also disliked mecha at the beginning.. but later i found it as one of the leading genre's i like.. dunno why but from some anime's i can kinda imagine how the future world will look like with all those gadgets.. if you understand what i mean..
