Your own remakes

If you could remake one of your favourite dramas, who would you cast, and what would you change?

To break the ice, here's my first direction choice (LOL): I'd have the Koreans remake Autumn Concerto (tw drama).

My cast would be as follows:
Mu Cheng (Ady An) --> Son Ye Jin

Beautiful and expressive, she can definitely act.


Ren Guang Xi (Vannes Wu) --> Yes, I know I'm the least original woman on the planet, but here I go: Hyun Bin.

Not only because he's my fav. actor and he's gorgeous, but also because Ren Guang Xi's character is a complex one, who changes a lot throughout the story, both in appearance and in behaviour. A true talented actor is needed here.


Tuo Ye (Chris Wu) --> Song Joong Ki

A mixture of a man who's still a little childish and a child who had to grow up too fast. Plus the eye-candy.

Yi Qian (Tiffany Xu) --> Park Min Young

. Loved her in both SKK Scandal and City Hunter. I have no doubt she would play the part very well.


The rest of the cast is unifluential, meaning that there are a lot of actors who would fit their parts.
Don't know any korean child actor the age that fits the bill. I'm sure there are many.

As for pace and plot, I'd only change the end and make it longer, show a little more of their life together - no cheese allowed.
I'd change the music too except from Bach's Air on the G String, and have her play other piano pieces.

I posted here for pure practical reasons, but you can remake whatever J/K/Tw/China drama in whatever country, or have it remade in the same country by a different cast.

I will use this opportunity to introduce some Tdramas that can benefit from a remake and re-telling into a Kdrama with (possible) substance. I'll start with Summer's Desire. I would re-tell the story with less gloom and a lil bit more emphasis on the chemistry between the female lead and the male lead. In the original Summer's Desire, the chemistry between the female lead and the second male lead was much hotter and believable than the chemistry between the her and the male lead. Also, I would re-do some of the parts to include some lighter scenes PLUS re-write the script to ensure a more natural progression towards the ending (instead of the "rushed" ending in the original). As for the cast, I will choose:

Lee Dae Hae for Xia Mo's character (female lead)
Reason: This is quite a mature storyline and the female character should have a mature beauty with quiet resilience and Dae Hae will be perfect for the role. What she did for her role in Chuno is quite similar to this role here in a re-make for Summer's Desire.

Ju Jin Mo for Ou Chen's character (male lead)
Reason: Ou Chen has a quiet character that is often depicted as being vengeful and jealous of Xia Mo and Luo Xi's relationship and of course, he is a chaebol and heir to a powerful corporation. However, through the progression of the story, his character gets better as he learns how to love in return. His character has the biggest change from gloom-doom to a brighter character at the end and I believe Jin Mo would be perfect for this sort of role.

Micky Yoochun as Luo Xi's character (second male lead)
Reason: Luo Xi is a character that is sometimes cheery and sometimes sceptical. He is a ruthless but extremely successful actor. Abandoned by his mother when he was younger, he had always been cautious with affection until he met Xia Mo. For Xia Mo, he would sacrifice everything, including his successful career. His sometimes happy facade is a mask to hide his hurt heart. I believe Micky can pull this off brilliantly.

Well.. I did not go for idols as my cast because I think Summer's Desire has a rather mature storyline and would work better with a more matured cast. Whatdaya think??

It's not a drama but I'd want to remake the Taiwanese movie 'Hear Me.' For no particular reason other than it was cute and I'd like to see a Korean version.

Me gusta Summer's Desire. Totally fell in love with Peter Ho as Ou Chen.

I can see Ju Jin Mo *rawr* as Ou Chen though. Me thinks he would do brilliantly. Not so sure about Mickey though. Do you think he has enough bad boy in his to play that part? Actually I think LMH might do that part well. He is pretty good at the bad boy thing. Oh what about Eric Moon? He would be quite good!!

Hava's got a true talent in choosing the cast, I'd say. I am not sure I'd like to watch another remake of Hana Kimi for the simple reason that that particular drama was so... "japanese funny". I loved the manga-like shoots.
But simply watching the pics of the actors she chose, I think they are perfect!!

Summer Desire is a drama I've had on hold for the past 8 months or more. I got to episode 5, I think, but I never truly warmed up to the male characters.
So I love Aryael's choices a lot, both in casting as well as in making the story a little breezier and sentimental.
I'd definitely watch her version!!!

I haven't watched the Tw movie briaferx mentions, but already the pairing Lee Hong Ki and Yoon Eun Hye is sending me very good vibes!


Are we all going to submit our ideas to the powers in charge?
