i like the black n white one... maybe because the background just have a dots or star.. .. maybe adding a stock image to the background can make it more better..

I tried coloring... read a tut on dev art & tried to remember it but too lazy 2 go back & follow exactly...
would appreciate if anyone has a line drawing i can practice with?
(& please don,t tell me 2 ggoogle since didn,t have much luck...)

I know this is pretty crappy but it's my first effort ... used sketchbook express on tablet.

tell me a couple things i can do to improve? (on coloring)

Pls explain what is meant by some shading? diff colors? more shadows? blending? other?

Makes me wonder as wel....

I see shading in there... I think there is no issue on shading or colouring at all...

the thing I think you can improve on, is the shapes more.... the face and such have a bit wigly lines.... also I think if you used a curved line with pentool the lines would be better....

you could also add some harder lines in there to make it look more tight as a whole....

Also would suggest to add some loose lines of hair to make it look a bit more scruffy and more hair like.... (normally hair doesnt go as perfectly as you showed there I think....) although here I am being picky and just trying to give some ideas....

all in all you did a great job, specialy if this is your first try... ^^

Well that is great if you think the coloring is OK, that is what I am trying to learn ATM.
Are you sure no tips on coloring?

Yeah the lines look a bit like I drew them w/ left hand or something. I have Gimp and just yesterday started learning the path tool which makes lines & then adds curves to them. I think this is the same as Pentool, right?

Yeah the hair probly needs more detail. Will have to work on that in future.

I'd like to practice coloring on a bleach pic. If I get a manga image off of google then convert the white to transparent w/ Gimp maybe I can do it that way.
Seems like a lot of work tho... LOL

Nah, it wouldnt be that much work to colour something, drawing something from scratch is alot harder and more time consuming then colouring something....

I know that for sure, cause I have done both.....
(although only started Drawing/Digi-Painting not that long ago...)

About Colouring:

The colours could be better, yeah, but I am not gonne judge you on the colour choice.... cause it is prolly a choice what colour you wanted to use...
I would say, you could work a bit on adding some more lines and smaller details....
(dot lighting at the cheek for instance....)

Wait, is it alright if I edit the Piece, so I could show maybe what I mean....
(not saying I can do a better job, but maybe I could try and show what I mean at least...)
