Signature Help

I didn't know if this was the right thread to put this one in so I just put it in the Avatar and Signatures one. Anyways, I've been admiring all these creative signatures people have made and I got inspired to start making them. What I was wondering though, are there any places I should look at to get the very basics of making signatures and Photoshop. Some people have recommended me some sites but I think they're a bit too advanced for me. They have tutorials but I'm not so familiar with their vocabulary. So if anyone can recommend me some informational sites or videos that can help me with the basics I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you for reading.

If you go to deviantart.com and search for "Beginner signature tutorial" You'll get a lot of tutorials that are for beginners. Like this:

Also, the best thing to do is to join a GFX forum. All they do is GFX! They have tutorials and resources for you to use and also places to ask for help if you need it. I was recommended to a site called delta-visions.net, it has lots of tutorials for beginners and other levels as you get better and better. They also have a resource sub-forum that helps....if you can get 25 posts to get into it.
Another site would be planetrenders.net, they have a TON of different things also. Go to the forums. join up and look around.

Lol it took a while and I don't think I got the hang of it that well yet : P

took me 3 days to make something that didnt look like shit ...

u should start not by making signatures but learning basic photoshop techniques from tutorials or u can just try everything out urself

well i like to try things out myself cuz that makes me get a better impression of what tools to use to get what i want. if u just do tutorials, then u learn the way of someone else but not ur own.

after u got the basic things u should start lookin at other artists works and try to figure out what they did, how they smudge, what techniques they use. of course a tutorial here and there wont make u lose ur way but do the main part urself

Wow. Only 3 days? Were you already familiar with Photoshop before you started?

not really but i worked with adobe after effects for a long time and did other gfx/cg stuff so i already knew some basics of digital design
actually i started with particle illusion xD. that was the first cg/gfx software i ever used

Oh I see. I think it might take me a while because I'm sort of new at Photoshop. I've played around with it here and there. Oh well, something new to learn over the summer.
