Default Howdy

Hello all. I'm Phil. I got into manga around 1994 when I was working at a comic book store (Outlanders was my first manga love), then shortly later discovered there were animated versions of the manga I loved (Bubblegum Crisis was my first anime). When I started community college in 1996 the closest major I could find to animation was Art / Photo. Then I went on to an art school as an animation major, then a specialty school for digital animation & visual effects (DAVE School). Now I'm a professional (award winning I might add) 3D and effects artist.

Thanks, BTW if you're a Nintendo DS fan you may have seen one of my recent works, Google "phil nolan ds" (no quotes) and you'll find it all over.

I read your resume philbert. Pretty amazing. I liked some of your work. However, doing what you do, is income reliable/steady?

Thanks. It depends on where you live I think. Unfortunately here in the Philadelphia area there isn't much work, so most of my work is done from home with clients elsewhere in the country. Shooters Post & Transfer is the only studio I worked at where I actually worked inside the studio. I worked at a studio in NY for 6 months in 2007 and never even met the guy or saw a picture of him. Just talked to him on the phone every day. Finding work from home is pretty tough, if you're really good most of the bigger studios will pay for you to move out to where ever they are, but I think they'd be much more likely to hire you if you can interview in person and already live nearby.
