I think the host is connected to all the contestants somehow, but he cannot remember things, that's why he's screaming like he's in so much pain.

He IS related to the contestants. The second contestant drew him and his girl and fatty gave them a reading. I can't think of how the first is involved though my guess is the whole reason for the quiz shows existance is to get back his memory
