I guessed from the summary that this is based on Frances Burnett's book (she's also the author of the "Secret Garden", by the way). The book is kind of dark and sad, so be prepared to see mostly hardships and miseries until the happy ending. The screenwriters of this drama made great choices, like turning the kitchen-servant into a boy (it is a girl in the book), thus preparing a romance between him and the princess. The main actress in this drama is amazing, and she read a few lines of La Fontaine using lovely pronounciation (the teacher, on the other hand, was completely unintelligible in French). I am very happy to see the Japanese revisiting our classics, that we have forgotten now in the West. Last edited by Kreutzer; 10-27-2009 at 06:28 AM. |

Yes! I agree entirely on what's been said. The Little Princess was a book I had read over and over again. It's definitely one of my favourite stories as a child. It's been a while since I've had several dramas to follow at once. And yes, the idea of changing Becky's role to that of a boy adds a very refreshing feel. What I'm curious to see is what are they going to do about the ending? Will it be the same as the book? This fall's line-up is very impressive. Looking forward to episode 2

this is great...It's really sad, but just goes to show such good actresses and actors in this drama. This is actually a good feeling to see new faces in a drama that seems to be really good. Thank you. I anticipate the development of this drama.

Since there seems to be a lack of jdrama forums, I figured I'll post here. I'm currently in Japan, and during my boredom on a say evening, I was flipping channels on my phone and came across shokojo seira. I must say that it's rather interesting, mainly because I can understand bits here and there... although some of the longer dialogues are still a mystery to me. Anyone know if there are translations released somewhere that I can just read instead of having to watch the subbed version over again? maybe some srt files somewhere? ...waiting for ep 3 to air in 2.5hrs.... |
