Just heard that Lee Jun Ki is enrolling in the army next week, on May 3. That means he won't be able to film the drama Faith, as well as the movie Grand Prix that he had started filming. Go there for more details : Lee Jun-ki quits film and drama for army duty — Dramabeans I'm just crying alone in front of my computer !!! |

I think every man should feel honored to serve in his country's army and that comes before any thing else as a national duty. btw, I'm curruntly watching his last aired drama "Hero(MBC)"

Well, I'm an anti-war, so I don't believe in such a "honor" ; secondly, in France there is an "armée de métier", only volunteers engage in the army, it's a vocation ; I think people should have a choice: those that want to "serve" their country can do it ; I'm a teacher, so I think I'm serving my country in a better way than going in other countries to kill people !

Well, The army ,originally, isn't for going to other countries and killing people but for defending your own country. Did you hear the saying:"If you want peace, be prepared for war"? Korea was invaded before by Japan and it was horrible back then. Even now they are threatened by North Korea, so they must be always ready.

The real work of defending the national territory isn't generally done by the army, but by the police and secret services... Anyway, just look at World's History and you will see that powerfull armies just intervene in countries where there is an economic interest (just look at the US, or France...) It's true that some countries only have an army in case of invasion or terrorism, in may be true for Korea or Japan, but do they need obligatory service ? Just be carefull not to fall for propaganda... |

But it has nothing to do with propaganda, they are still in a war state with Noth Korea, even if its no action, but it was just never declared otherwise, so that's why obligatory military service. I just think that they should have moved the time for his enrolling to finish the filming he already started. Last edited by Zeffir; 05-03-2010 at 06:17 PM. |

The fact that a country is at war doesn't justify obligatory service (France is at war in Afghanistan and doesn't need obligatory service) ; as for Lee Jun Ki, at first he had it moved to the end of the year, then it was suddenly moved early, who knows why...
