I actually would not.
My reasons being first: I don't know Japanese at all let alone fluently. I speak maybe 20-30 words none of which would be coherent in a sentence.
Second: there are some foods I do not eat for whatever reasons, such as octupus, squid, pork, sake, and so on, which would be in a lot of food. Me not knowing Japanese + not knowing what is in food i eat a restaurant would be a no no.
Third, i just would not be comfortable living there. Now, I would definitely not pass up the chance to go on a vacation there for say two weeks.

Only if I knew the language fluently. It would be pretty cool for a little bit until I get bored then on to South America, Antarctica, and so forth! Then when I reach 110 I would go back to Japan and die from an overdose of sake in some dark alley way. But yeah overall I wouldn't pass up the opportunity..

more of a reason to learn japanese, learning a lang is easier when surrounded ny it =D
